[request] Admin powers for Fleet chat

I'd like to request admin/operator powers at Fleet chat (system created) similar to those at privates channels (but with working properly mute).

There is sometimes need to for example mute one specific player but current fleet chat system doesn't allow that. To mute such player Fleet leader must kick him from fleet or block using fleet chat for whole Rank in fleet.

+1 to this idea. Also, has the unmute button been fixed yet?

No, it hasn't. Two years is not enough time to fix such problem.

Why would anyone need such an option? If a fleet member is causing so much trouble that he can't be trusted to use fleet chat, then why is he remaining in the fleet? There is a kick button for a reason.

Can I ask WHY you would want to mute someone, in your fleet, from using fleet chat? Sounds like a foolish idea. If you don't want to hear that person, but you want to keep him in your fleet, just sounds like "Oh, you have nothing worth listening to, but keep dropping stuff in our bank & projects would ya?"
Doesn't send a very good message, to me at least.

For example because in Fleet in which I'm there is rule about using appropriate language and behavior. Now someone get mad/drunk/have a bad day/etc. and start cursing/picking a fight with other players/etc. Exactly same reasons why you or any other player can get chatban from GM at public channels.

Well, I'd still have to say, if you have people that are THAT much of a problem, with picking fights with fellow fleet members, just because they get mad and/or drunk, my personal opinion, you should probably be kicking them, not muting them. That's just me, I'd rather not have crappy behaviour like that around me.

An alternative is to set up a private channel. You can have admin powers (mute is still broken though :() it's cross faction and you can talk with people on toons that aren't in the fleet.

Actually, that's what my fleet did, as we have both a Fed & a Klin chapter.

If such situation is constant then yes kick is appropriate, but not if this is onetime action. Everybody have right to have sometime a worse day, but not necessary everyone must hear it. You can't punish for everything with a kick. Having more options is always better even if you never need to use them.

Well, again, being brutally honest, even one time, if they can't control their "mouth", then maybe relegating them to a rank where they can't use fleet chat at all, is appropriate.

I am the leader of a fleet and we also have the rule about using innapropriate language. The thing is, it is in our fleet rules that if they break any of the fleet rules they get kicked from the fleet. I have never had a problem with foul language from any of my fleet members

It also speaks to your recruiting. When you recruit, you don't want to recruit just anyone to fill out your roster. recruit people that will follow the rules and are in it to have fun and play the game, because it is a game after all

There are two ways already in the game to deal with this.

1- Use the option to kill fleet chat and use a private chat channel instead. Simply put the channel join info in the MOTD for the fleet It works the same and it can be cross faction and cross fleet if you want.
2- Create an additional member rank without access to the fleet chat and bump any misbehaving members to that rank. This effectively works as a mute option but it uses one of the seven ranks available.
