update launcher issue

I was playing STO and got disconnected from the server. When I tried to get back on, the "trying to update the launcher" thing came up and continued to try for at least 10 times before giving me an error message stating that it cannot establish connection with the patch server.

I've checked my internet connection by going to websites I've never been to before with no issues. Restarted my computer and tried to download the latest launcher from within this same forum section with no success.

I do NOT wish to uninstall and re-install the game because my computer cannot handle STO and Arc running at the same time.

If anybody has any other ideas for getting into STO, I'd appreciate it. Thanks for at least reading and have a great day. :)

    Restarting your hardware can usually resolve this.

    I assume you mean restart my computer. Which I did and that didn't work. After that, I tried re-downloading the launcher from the "PC, Network, and other technical issues" forum which also didn't work.

    Ok. Tried clearing out your internet cache? Apologies for missing you said you restarted your system

    Ok. I know of a good freebie program that I also use to clean out my cache you may of heard of it it's called c cleaner. I swear by it.

    cleaned out the cache and re-started my computer and it still doesn't work. I'll try this c cleaner and see if that solves the problem

    ok sorry I haven't been much help, just tried things that I would try first of all

    Just found something from branflakes on another thread, where another player was having similar issue. Bran suggested restarting the router of that didn'y help try running in admin mode.

    problem seemed to have corrected itself. Tried running it in administrator mode which also didn't work.

    Was trying to contact tech support for the service that I use to find out if I can restart the router without interrupting TV service. Which runs though the same box. But, as I was waiting, I tried to start the launcher and it now works. :)

    No worries sorry I wasn't much help, glad your back in game, it could of just been a random glitch with your ISP then.

    Just so you know for future, anything like this is not a gameplay bug you really need to post in the PC network etc subforum, that way the right people will be able to see your thread much faster and help much quicker, plus it saves branflakes from having to move the thread, not that he does much anyway, but you don't want him to strain a finger nail at his keyboard moving a thread do you .:P

    Probably. Any ideas of what to do before crying for help is always a good thing.

    Yeah, I wouldn't want that. Then he wouldn't be able to fire phasers. lol :)
