Does this item count as doing melee, physical, and plasma damage? Was wondering if it benefits from the Romulan's Traits:
-Innate: Bonus Physical Damage, chance to knock down foes when using Melee attacks.
-Plasma Weapon Specialist: +10% Plasma Energy Weapon Damage (Note: Romulan character creation screen incorrectly states 15%)
-Soldier: +5% All Energy Damage, +10% Critical Severity.
The first Belfast was commanded by Captain Ve'Kal Shon until its destruction in 2409. A new ship was commissioned bearing the same name and registry as special dispensation to then newly promoted Captain Edward XIII for his pivotal role during the renewed Dominion War.
I think - but am not sure - the calculations go through like it's melee, but then it swaps over to plasma damage for the actual "type." Think of it as running through the program pretending it's melee, and at the very very end of the processing it resets the type to "plasma" in such a manner that it needs refrequencing against ground Borg.
I'm not SURE on this, though. If anyone would care to correct me on this it would be appreciated.
At the end of calculation its plasma, which means you dont have any shield penetration and borg adapt. So its just a nice to look at item but a total waste in combat.
Nanos work great in combat against everything but Borg.
They don't benefit from things that boost physical damage AFAIK. But they do benefit from things that boost melee.
see... "Melee" isn't actually a damage type. And no this isn't the only melee weapon that deals damage of a type other than physical. Tholian swords do it too. But they do Physical + whatever damage type they've absorbed.
EDIT: I'm not sure if they benefit from things the boost "energy" damage, but I suspect that they do.
I can confirm that the nano-pulse melee weapons don't benefit from physical damage boost. I tried it with a physical augmentation armour and saw no increase. However it does benefit from the Romulan plasma weapon trait. I tried that by taking the trait at Subcommander and checking the nano-pulse before and after.

I thought it was plasma? It's a melee weapon but the Borg adapt to it. And the description lists plasma damage, too. So...yeah.
My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.

No shield penetration? Well... That pretty much completely kills it for me.
