Quick equip - nice idea but we need ship layout save/load

what we really need is an option to save a layout and load it again later. Just like the costumes at the tailor. Why is this so difficult???

Ship management system. We've talked about this in recent interviews :) it should be hitting Tribble once it's ready for testing -- it's currently on the schedule for 8.5 and there will be a Dev Blog about it.

As for it being difficult, have you tried programming a MMO? :P Complex systems take time.

I hope this ship management system allows us to load and save bridge officer seating and power tray layouts, not just equipment. Most of the time changing ships is spent setting up the power tray, not moving equipment over. I'm excited to see this system.

I also hope this system includes doff layouts. For me, this is way worse than even the power try (which is also really annoying).

The initial release will be just the start of what we envision it becoming, and we will work to expand on it after feedback is received on the initial set of features. I do not believe that active DOFF assignments will be part of the saved builds in the initial release, but BOFF station assignments should be. The goal of the system is to allow you to quickly swap your builds and actual ships, allowing you to use a variety without it feeling like changing ships and builds take up a majority of your gameplay session.

Stay tuned for more information in Tribble notes and the upcoming Dev Blog.

This may be a little off topic, but when exactly is season "8.5" scheduled to be released?

Is this the "command a fleet of ships" mechanic that has been teased at for quite some time? Or is this something that's supposed to help make it easier when you eventually get to it?

Support 90 degree arc limitation on BFaW! Save our ships from looking like flying disco balls of dumb!

I think this is just a big patch around the anniversary. Sounds like it will include a few new systems and whatever the anniversary is.

Highly speculative, but related to the post you quoted:

What if the anniversary introduces fleet gameplay? :D

Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.p3OEBPD6HU3QI.jpg

My guess: When they finally finish all the stuff that was supposed to be in Season 8, which is now being called "Season 8.5" to avoid the admission that would go with calling it "The rest of season 8, finally arriving." :P

Halleleouia! This is the most excited about a feature that I've been since the Account bank.

Wow! It's like, I dunno, you people actually listen to the community, every once in a while! :P I shouldn't jinx it, though, LOL.

    Anyway, thx for this!

Yeah. I hope, one day, Active (Space) Duty Officer assignments will become part of the save/load thingy, as they're an integral part to one's build, really.

One pertinent question, though, Bran, will the load/save feature include the tray, btw? This is as much an integral part to one's station loadout as anything else. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that without tray save/load functionality, saving/loading boff stations is kinda meaningless too. And it would very greatly help for when your tray gets messed up once again (for whatever unknown reason).

I am not your typical STO player. Im the guy who needs the Bridge officer slot limit raised. The one who has an excel spreadsheet to keep track of all his differant ship builds and configurations.

As such I apreciate that I am not in the majority and so I understand that whats important to me is often going to be at the bottom of the to do list. Thats alright, the needs of the many and all that...

Any way i just wanted to say; 'Please Please Please get active doffs included in the new system. I swap doffs for almost every build.'

... Oh and on an unrelated note, please fix the deflector duty officer who only works with anomalies now. Its been broken since the patch of 10/10/2012.

^^ Yes, please. Every time I need to buy one of those fugly Embassy Roms, I'm forced to let go of one of my loyal crew. :(

So, yeah, let's raise that boff limit, and you'll get more Zen out of ppl like me in the process. :)

I understand making game better and funner. but shifting consoles and weapons in middle of battle seems hard-rough, even if there are no bugs. b/o to boot, oh boy, going to need more fingers.

Call them "shifts" like you would change from alpha shift to beta shift within your crew on board your ship.

+1 to Ship Management System. I also would like to add DOFFs to that system as well, since changing from a beam boat to a torp boat to a dual heavy boat will clearly need different setups for the D-team as well as the B-team. :)

I like the idea of calling them "shifts", and would be OK with at least 3 per ship.

    Edited to add:

Another thing that would be nice would be some way to share these setups. Ideal would be a unique code that could be provided to a fleetmate and it would "copy" the build as close as possible - maybe including captain skill points if at trainer?

If that's not possible, please PLEASE make sure it is incorporated into the Gateway so we can share builds that way.

While we're on Gateway, any chance we can at least show active DOFFs while waiting for full DOFF control?

    Yay ship management.

+1 for active roster DOFFS please. It's even more annoying to swap these guys out than for equipment and BOFFS.

... also I forget.. ALL. THE. TIME. >_>

They ever pull it off to where I could hit less than five buttons and change ships with all my equipment, power settings, ability tray, and doffs in the right place I can think of about 12500 Zen and 1600 lobi worth of ships I would want to aquire.

Right now it is just to much of a hassle.

So would this eventually lead to being able to purchase a second complete buildout of sorts (Skills, Traits, Stations, ect) that could be swapped between (with some sort of cooldown to prevent switching in combat for unforseen exploits)? I mean, If I am flying a Cruiser Beam Boat, I will want very different Skills from what I would want for a Tactical Escort Carrier (And wouldn't need the "Wing Commander" trait at all on the Beam Boat). I imagine, if so, it would be a character unlock in C-Store or with Dilithium.

Otherwise, and maybe I am missing something here, I'm not sure haw it will help much as most players would have their traits and skills tailored to one particular ship/build and switching to another would be highly inefficient.

i have a toon that switches between a Recluse and a chel gret and i have found a way that thus far has never messed up my skill tray.

Each ship has a completely separate bridge crew. i have 5 boffs on my recluse and 5 different boffs on my chel gret. this does require you to have more than the normal amount of boff slots than a silver player has but it has worked out great for me since i only use the chel gret for playing the NWS.
