I was playing this mission, and chased the prisoner out to Boreth. All those options to allow them to bow out gracefully, and leave.
I still end up having to fight and kill them anyway. What's the point of all the dialogue options in the story if you get stuck telling them you'll kill them at the end anyway?
Any chance we can get the option to let them leave with their tails tucked between their nacelles?
Nope, no chance - that is the burden of STO. They can make dialogue seemingly let you make some choices, but the cold hard fact is that the mission will play out in only one manner - the one that was intended no matter what type of dialogue you choose.
This is not the only example, there are lots of other missions like this troughout the game - "Divide Et Impera" to note the most notorious one, where as a Starfleet Captain you're very much aware since the first moment that you're boarding a civilian facility, but you have no other choice to finish the mission other than commiting a massacre on Romulan doctors and medical staff.
