I enjoy your videos. But the great thing about STO is one build may be fun and work for one player and not for the next. Instead of flaming your Doffs/abilities/choice of gear I will say nice work and keep experimenting and having fun and making videos. And my advice to all that come on the forums looking for good builds is take the information and advice you see here on the forms as just that. Advice. Tinker and test and find what works for you. And have fun doing it.

My videos are not necessarily about the build, but more-so about showing the ship in action. I want to display the ship in combat, and show its unique abilities and see how if flies. I want to know how well it works, and what it does, and show that to people :)

I never claim my build is the best, only that it works for me :) I build for fun, not for spreadsheets. If you aren't having fun, there is no point in playing, IMO. Naturally, everyone has their own opinions and ideas on builds, and that is wonderful, that is what makes STO truly awesome, the ability to have a myriad of different starship builds.

Hey Doc, I enjoy the videos you have on youtube. I took a major look at my Avenger and retooled it. It isn't my primary ship but if I need to use it it is sitting in my garage. Thanks for the insight on the build.

As someone who uses the Fleet Avenger as primary boat your video left me a bit baffled with some of your choices. However, I have to commend you on the presentation, your videos are why I joined this game and I just love how you present things.

Also, for your future videos, if you present a build, it would also be nice to see your Active Space Doffrs setup to complement your boffrs skills.

Now, here's a couple of random things that I need to nitpick from the video:

    1. Why are you going with 3pc AMACO vice 2pc AMACO w/ MACO deflector? I'm curious on this one because I'm currently in the same boat as you (running AEGIS and about to finish getting what I need for either 3pc AMACO or the 2+1 combo)

    2. As an engineer, most if not all of your rep passive should be to boost your dps, you have a lot of survivability tools at your disposal and should survive the harshest conditions in STFs (where dps is king :P)

    3. the dps increase you noticed on your beams when using EPTW1 vice Red Matter is because EPTW increases your power level but also increases your energy damage (EPTW1 is +10%)

    4. I've personally had terrible experience with the VATA and found it was a waste of a console slot, you'd be better served with a plasmonic leech, nukara console, romulan console (if you feel you don't need the extra survivability from your fleet neutronium then you can use two of the above and all three if you upgrade your avenger to the fleet variant. Upgrading to the fleet variant will also boost your shield/hull by 10%). the tachyo/bio lobi consoles are also pretty nice on this ship but now it's kinda getting ridiculous...

    5. Have you considered an a2b setup? Works like a charm on the avenger when using beams.

    6. Why science team over TSS?

    7. The Pattern colouring is bugged. It will start working after you've hit <RANDOMIZE>.

    8. You're using the aegis set and not showing the tron lines?!?!?! :P

It's super late and I have to go to bed. I've only watched the intro video (which was already super long) but I'll check out the STF runs tomorrow.

Keep doing these videos! You're serving the STO community very very well.

    Cheers mate!

Very nice doc. Bit long but great info. Though right now I haven't gotten anywhere NEAR a fleet yet[haven't found one I like] and well running solo bit limited in my choices for gear.

Though I went with 2 arrays and 2 Dual phaser with the rapid reload transphasic. On the back I got the 360 Anti proton, the phaser array i got with the tier 1 connie and then the breen transphasic cluster. I lose a bit in the beam array when i turn about, but it's nice to launch that cluster torpedo and watch that AMAZING damage it can yeild.

I have to stress again, these video's primary goal is not about what build works best, but rather here is a new ship in combat, how does it fly, should you get it, what's it like, does it suck, is it good, etc..... That includes testing all the inherent abilities of the ship. Then, along the way, I find a build that works for me, and you can see that.

As always, my choices suite me, they may not suite you, and that's ok :)
Also, for your future videos, if you present a build, it would also be nice to see your Active Space Doffrs setup to complement your boffrs skills.

In the second video, showing the Borg Elite STFs, I show all my Active Space DOFFs.
Why are you going with 3pc AMACO vice 2pc AMACO w/ MACO deflector? I'm curious on this one because I'm currently in the same boat as you (running AEGIS and about to finish getting what I need for either 3pc AMACO or the 2+1 combo)

I like to have 3 set bonus's when I can. But certainly, an option is to see what benefits the MACO Deflector might have over Adapted Maco Deflector. I do not recall off hand what those are. I'll have to look in-game at the differences between them and then decide. On my main character I went with all 3 Adapted Maco pieces for some reasoning I had at the time.
As an engineer, most if not all of your rep passive should be to boost your dps, you have a lot of survivability tools at your disposal and should survive the harshest conditions in STFs (where dps is king :P)

Everyone builds with a different goal in mind. No way is the perfect one way. As an engineer, I went with all the passives that compliment my engineering slant of being tanky and healy.
the dps increase you noticed on your beams when using EPTW1 vice Red Matter is because EPTW increases your power level but also increases your energy damage (EPTW1 is +10%)

    Thanks

Thanks for the opinion. The point of my videos is to show off these new ships and show off their abilities. If I didn't use the VATA, I would be doing a disservice to people watching and questioning if they should fly the ship in question. I try to gain all the consoles and weapons unique to a ship I'm showing so people can see the ship as the developers intended.

Have you considered an a2b setup? Works like a charm on the avenger when using beams.

    Don't use batteries myself.

    Why science team over TSS

Explained in the last video: "Federation Fleet Alert - Conclusion"
The Pattern colouring is bugged. It will start working after you've hit <RANDOMIZE>.

    I see
You're using the aegis set and not showing the tron lines?!?!?! :P

Again, about showing the native properties of a ship in these videos.

    Hi Doctor,

an honor to have you here :o

I just wanted to say how much I love your vids. I cant remember when I found your channel, I think it is about a year or so? Since then I watched all your Fed and Romulan vids and most from the KDF.

I must say, I could never do this like you do. You must spend hours a day just grinding and playing a mission and editing and whatever. It seems you really love the game and your followers.

Personally, I have stopped active playing a time ago. Usually, I play until the Doff System is unlocked and from there I doff myself up to 50. Health problems keep me from more active playing.

Thats why I love your Playthroughs so much. You show the whole story of the different factions, it is like a movie for me.

    Thanks for all your work.

Have you ever thought about looking at some older ships?
