Fleet shield questions

Ok here are some things I don't understand about fleet shields or shields in general

Resilient shields
They absorb 5% of the damage. What does that mean? 5% go to shields instead of hull or 5% are completely negated and just don't exist anymore?

Reg. vs. ResA/ResB
So I looked at the fleet shields here. Now you get ResA/ResB shields with damage resistance vs. 3 different damage types and you get the Reg shields which just have the option to stack vs. incoming damage. Now what I don't get is do the ResA/ResB negate 15% of impact and build stacks vs. all incoming damage types on top? Or just vs. the types that are mentioned in ResA/ResB? Or just against one additional one so 4 in total (never seen more than 4 different types in the ingame fights). And what damage types does the Reg type stack against then? All of them?

For your first question, Resilient shields 5% absorption would be 5% of incoming damage would heal your shields rather than damage them. Could be wrong however.

For Reg/ResA/ResB: Reg does not stack up resistances against incoming damage. That is the [Adapt] modifier, which all elite fleet shields have. Reg simply increases the amount of shields regenerate per second, although it is not very much. ResA/ResB have resistances to their energy types.

Personally I'd recommend Elite Fleet Resilient Shield Mk XII [Adapt] [Cap]x2 [ResB]

So Res shields have specific resistances and stack on top? While Reg shields only stack?

Correct. The ResA and ResB shields have a full time minimum resist on them AS WELL AS a stacking resist to incoming damage of a type. Say for instance you have a Resist shield with 15% resist to Disruptors. That means you would ALWAYS have 15% resist to Disruptors and when HIT with said Disruptors would begin to build a higher resistance still.

Also yes: 5% Absorb on Resilient Shields means 5% of incoming damage heals your shields instead of damaging them which overall just results in less damage to your shields. However, the 5% Bleed-through is what makes Resilient shields amazing, it means as long as your shields are up less damage will get through to your hull. These shields types are best used when combined with abilities like Transfer Shield Strength or Emergency Power to Shields which reduce damage taken by your shields. This means since less damage is taken by your shield, even less damage still is getting through them with Bleed-through.

    Go with Covariant.
Fleet Admiral of the U.S.S. ATTILA KHAN-CDA (NX-921911).

aaah now I finally know what these odd constant shield heals are without me doing anything :D Thanks for the explanation!

If you're tanking get covariant, if you're doing anything else get resilient. Always select ResB since they offer better resistances to the most content.

That's not what the 5% absorb means. Combat logs show no 5% heals from simply having resilient shields. What it means is that the other half of the normal 10% bleed-through from other shields is simply negated with a resilient shield.
