Search in Exchange

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned in the forums but if you search for items in the exchange when "any" category is selected nothing is found. This used to work was wondering if this is being worked on to be fixed.

Its very difficult to find things in exchange now with this feature not working.

searching the exchange database is often a tricky thing. it is ALWAYS best to go to the subsection you want and search there. Half the time the prices for items displayed under the any tab, are not reflective of whats overall available as well.

An example, I put a Mk XI rare engine on the exchange for 44k.
Searching under the any tab will only show me engines costing 55-too bloody much.
searching under engines in the ship eq tab shows me my engine, plus several others that people put up for less then mine.

Also yes, this is a long standing database issue, which is why I will always recommend using the tabs OTHER than the any, except for items like the holiday commodities which only seem to show up under any

from that perspective you are correct. However there are many times that I may not be searching for a good price, but for what an item is called. I don't always remember what the item is called where it belongs. It think this is especially true for newer players. Again it used to work and was very handy when trying to look something up. There are new things added to the game all the time, can't keep up with it all.

Even sometimes, almost always, when you try to find one of the consoles, and you tipe in name nad select subsection, it shows you all consoles in all subsections.

I'm having a similar related issue for quite some time now - the difference being I can only see items if I look under the "any" tab. If I try being specific and look in a particular subsection, I get nothing.

Dealing with the market is very tedious like this, I assume more than half of the time I either undercharge or overcharge my items compared to their market value, but there's just no way for me to know. Except the returned items that didn't sell if that can be any indication.

If you havent already, note this in the bug forum too, Im honestly not sure if its the old issues of database management rearing their head or something new.
as a general thing (and I can never remember the names of things half the time, I start searching using a general term I know is connected to it, like phaser then narrow from there

trust me, I have all sorts of fun looking at the reward boxes section, because I can never remember a bloody thing for what they are called :)
