that is because a) they are hard to come by during lvl or b) people selling with high price to the point of why bother trying to get them unless you play the exchange to get the funds to get those boffs with space traits
I would very much support the addition of 1 guaranteed racial space trait to every boff. It'd give people an incentive to diversify rather than copy-paste a template (3 blue embassy Romulans and 2 purple humans/Nausicaans). Especially Fedside, since the Federation is supposed to be more than just humans.

Seriously. I would love to be able to use something besides Humans, Borg, or expensive Saurians. The embassy Romulans were a good start (despite not being able to customize their look even though romulan tailor stuff is already in game), but I think we need to get more to choose from.
There should definitely be space traits available for all species of boff. Not necessarily guaranteed traits, I'm perfectly fine with the Saurians and their semi-rare Efficient, but certainly available traits. Preferably more than one.
Yes, the embassy Romulans should be customizable.
And speaking of Romulans, why is it that Romulans can use all Fed/KDF boffs they get their hands on but Fed/KDF can't use Romulan boffs except the special ones in the embassy? Bit one-way this alliance of theirs.
It would be nice if the trait system we have in place for player characters would be expanded to Boffs.
Have certain traits still exclusively for certain species (no corrosive blood on a human, for example), but add a few more common traits and let us choose the traits we want our boffs to have.
I am not sure the majority of them should be racial. Are there no efficient humans, no lucky whatevers, no disruptor or phaser specialists? A nice set of space bonuses that can randomly appear on anything with a smaller set of race specifics seems a better way to go.
I hope they will bring big update on boffs. Now they look like they are cloned, all humans having same qualities. Maybe those guys are starfleet academy are responsible.. not sure, but either way, it would be more realistic if we would have more options on space traits that are available to all (or almost all) species.

Romulans became subspecies of 2 major factions so I don't think this is one-way alliance. I had a lot of missions where they ordered my reman to do some stuff for kdf. If they give me orders like that, I wouldn't be surprised if the install few klingons on my bridge, just to give them reports

I think it would be best if it was random. Not based on what race the bridge officer is. Star Trek was always about everyone being able to be good at everything. So I would like to see every boff get one space trait and the very lucky ones get two.
Diversity of crew would be awesome but with how it is right now that is not possible if you want to do the best you can.
ever since the introduction of the Romulan ''Superior'' space traits, the game became more unbalance towards in favor of the Romulan Subfaction. they should add a Superior Pirate & Leadership space trait and some new space traits to offset the mess that Cryptic made.

The leadership trait is a sad shadow of its former self. The only thing it does well now is protect you from system disables.

Not so sure of this. It was also about finding your niche and doing what you're good at, which presupposes some people are good at things......and there may be a racial bias to such things.
I do think that we have a situation where the good space traits have been concentrated into a small number of races. This had lead to cookie cutter, min max bridge builds and thats a bad thing, imo.
Every race needs a power or a trait to give it its character.
Gorn need their bite. Liberated borg ned their nanoblast thingy.
Vulcans need their, canon, strength and Andorians their resistence to cold.
However, I'd give each boff another power or trait depending on quality.
Common get nothing except the basic racial trait.
Uncommon get one more trait from a pool for each race. The pool will contain some space and ground traits, and one or two racial specific ones.
Rare get two traits and very rare three.
The fun part comes in when cryptic get to sell respec tokens for boffs.
Say, 300 zen, and you get to choose the traits for one boff on one toon.
You're stuck with the racial one, but you get to choose the other three if its a purple boff.
You can even choose the same trait three times to stack.
So, we keep the increments relatively small to preserve balance.
We could end up with a toon with, say, 5% resistence across three types of damage, or 15% aginst one.
Or a 5% boost to hull healing and a 10% resistence to all energy weapon damage on the ground.
Should probably just do away with space traits at this point. Run with the crew you want. Maybe they could have made a meta game of making a ton of different utility space traits for every race that did something unique and helpful for different builds. But once the flood gates were opened with traits that just flat out increased your dps (Rom Operative/Pirate/etc) in a game that boils down into a dps race they more or less ensured that everyone is just going to stack the ones that increase damage and ignore everything else.

So, if we went with my modular approach to traits, you could simply give a couple of percent more to resistence and defence traits than DPS. Say +4% to damage or +5% to resistence.
So, choose three DPS traits and get +12% damage with something, or use those three slots for resistence and get +15%.
Means the arms race is skewed towards defence, and should result in more varied builds as people look for the sweet spot.

Agreed,
Romulans can have their own private command center and still have access to their allies star bases and their own Bridge Officers has well has their Allies
Cryptic should add projects to the Romulan Reputation system that once completed allows the KDF and Federation access to the Romulan Command Center and the Ability to recruit and commission Romulan Bridge Officers and Duty Officers.

What, having access to experimental plasma weaponry, shield systems, and even singularity technology isn't enough for you guys? :P
