With the new Dyson Ship Set in play, this puts a bit of perspective in using it as a good set for durability in cruisers and carriers if your looking at a tanking or balance view. I have the MACO and it works out well. I'm testing out the Dyson set now to see its performance. Some opinions point out using the higher end Borg set for the hull healing it does.
Anyone spent a good amount of time with the Dyson to make a comparison?
I've been looking between the MACO, Nukara and Dyson set. Thoughts welcomed.

Dyson is fine as long as you are not the type to take continuous fire all the time, it also has a very low cap (lower than assimilated mkxii), but does have good dmg reduction with a self shield heal built into it (1.5-2min cd though). The 4pc set offers a nifty attack that yields good dmg and strips buffs (doesn't seem overly to effective against npc's) with a good damage resistance from the reactive shielding (last only 15secs w/ a 1min cd). If your ship has a good shield mod and you toss in 1+ field gens, you can net a respectable cap to be survivable in high agro situations, but overall it is more geared for use with heavy sci/eng builds that can deal with the lower cap slack, and is IMO mainly designed for the Voth ships specifically.
Nukara is built around mainly it seems for fighting the tholian's, granting increased shield cap, quick removal of wp knockouts, and dealing aoe dmg to those pesky hangar pets and webs. It can be used in other scenarios, but it still remains built for dealing with tholians primarily.
MACO/Omega/KHG/Assimilated sets all offer up a world of good stuff, the largest reputation selection is offered here, and probably still the cream of the crop in versatility as far as sets have to offer. If you can't find or make use of this reputation's sets to aid your build, well something may quite possibly be wrong with your build (this is why there are plenty of ways to gain advise for a better build from player's to websites).
I have a tough time deciding between my Nukara and Aegis set. The Nukara suits me for what I do (mostly PvE and STFs while grinding for finishing the other Reps) but the Aegis is not far behind it, and it looks super cool when the Shield Buff activates...
I have no experience with the others as of yet, but I'm grinding for them...

The question is what do you like, it isn't a matter on what is better than the next set. THe most fun is mixing the sets together and experimenting with those extra benefits that come with the sets, increase in hull, shields capacity, ship's speed, and etc. Have fun with your builds.

Yeah, u can mix 22 sets, with 2-3 pieces each, and you will have the skills that comes with those 2 pieces of every set. Depends on your play style, build, etc. But full sets, sometimes look nicer
Mixing sets is always good, your best set depends on your build and your ship and your officers and basically everything to do with your set up.
However I can personally and safely say that Adapted MACO is one of the best sets in the game.
Dyson however seems to be an amazing set, and though it has low capacity people forget the Hyper Regenerative Shielding it has, meaning that once one face on your shields go down, it almost instantly regenerates all your shields and reduces damage to your shields by 67% for 10 seconds. It also comes with a good warp core, giving it an advantage there, all of this combined with Dyson set bonuses makes it an AMAZING set.

Yes, but it also comes with a 1.5-2min cd between uses.
Combine the dyson personal shield with the shield capacitor skill that comes with the Omega rep (battle phaser rifle + maco armor, for example) and its like you have 2 extra shields. Of course the thing here is to not be taking damage almost all the time, in dyson sphere is hard, but its possible...

Uh, you're the only one here talking about ground rep gear. They're referring to the space sets.
