Now that most of us have finished off the Dyson rep. and have got our PvE insanity part of the game out of the way (hopefully), it's time to go at each other's throats again.

The arena doors are now wide open. Let the gladiators role in, teams be forged by the Hilbert voodoo and let the slaying begin.
Your fleet tags mean nothing hear, your past glories are in the past, your pasr failures are in the past, it's what your doing here and now that counts.

Teamspeak as always if you want to use it is:

tylerdurden.failnoob.com:9988

If there are any altercations on ANY side, please inform me, Zenith or Husanak and like adults, we shall strive to resolve it amicably. If i'm the cause, please drop kick the hell out of me :)

Remember guys and gals, anyone can form/host these matches on any chat client in any manner and fashion they desire.

Like Husanak (the genius who kick started this movement) said, to the nearest effect, let the public queues if possible be for the newcomers / puggers.
Those who really do want a challenging fun match, join TD and kick the sh** out of each other.

See ya in the arenas guys and gals and let the battles begin!

lets buy into somethign else. whatcha thinking? heres my 2 cents

while td has a chance of being a good game (higher than public q)
a cohesive team with past experience vs another equally geared team ends up beign a good (better) match. lets take the "no qq/crying" from td and break it into the regular premadevs premade play.

Oh I don't doubt the uses it possibly has, but the manner the TD matches using the past score mechanic in order to balance teams is little better then guess work, it seems solely based on information given from past matches. I'm sure not everyone is only posting their best scores, but I bet enough to to skew any meaningful data.

Again, I don't question it's potential, or it's attempt to better our quality of play, I just question the end result.

yeah, after playin in over 50 durden games past few months, id have to admit less than 10 were "stellar" .

however, the hilbert track autobalancer gives several options, so that the players can then chose from those options, which are easily laid out balancing basic factors (basically the only thing that it tracks perfectly every time, is class)

hard to "track" who does what, and to be fair, ive been doing 10 different things during the last few months so tracking on name alone is inherently flawed. its "something" and its really not all that different from manually balancing, as in pre hilbert ldboard era.

meh ill rack my brain about whats best for the game, keep ur eyes peeles for big pvp 10v10s, who knows maybe ill brign back "surprise attack"

    cheerio

TD matches are only as good as the people playing in them.... ok now think about what I said cause that isn't what I mean. lol

The first match is not going to be often a perfect 15 14 barn burner... however if a group of 10 folks create a TD match and use Hilberts tool to get he first match underway. They can be the ones to move people around for the rematch... and try for that 15 14. Pretty much every one I have had a chance to fight against have really done this. The best matches I have been in have been round 2 3 or 4.

By the third go its often the case that one person will switch to a class that needs it. (extra sci another healer... even the odd time another tac.)

No not every first game is going to be perfect... I doubt that is ever really possible with out a stroke of luck. However its the players participating that have the power to make the follow up rounds memorable good pvp matches. Its been my experience that when you get a good group of 10 that think that way, that is pretty much the way it happens.

Last night I had some time to play 3 matches... the first was ok the second was alright... the third was a very well fought sci battle, I believe everyone that played had a great time. That is all that really matters. Perhaps it won't be the match people remember for years... still any given night in TD those matches can happen... and I believe they do happen for many of the TD players. Perhaps some of us who have been fortunate enough to play in real classic premade matches have a high standard in our minds. I have no doubt though that many of the newer players or folks with less Premade experience that jump in do have the most memorable matches they have had so far in the game.

I don't mean this to sound condescending at all... but there is a quote that I don't remember 100% from Michael Jordan. (not comparing myself or anyone else to that level but the quote is good lol). He was asked at one point when his knees where shot and he should really have not been playing why he was going out and giving 110%. He answered that on any given night there was a father and a son at the game for the first time. He was making sure they got an experience.

I paraphrased that badly. My point though is simple. We have so many newer players... people that came on board after F2P or just never really PvPed before. There all great people and looking to enjoy a part of the game we all love enough to be reading forums about and talking about in game chat channels. Bringing those people into TD and really trying to make games great... using our collective game know how every round to tweak them into as close to a magic game as possible... that is what we all need to be doing more of. Bring your old friends bring your new frineds... and lets enjoy blowing each other up... and being forced to see respawn screens that don't drive us nuts. lol

Im new to PvP and still have 2 years to go before i get my 4 reps from tier 0 to tier 5, and grind all the good gear.

Is this an issue for a newcomer to PvP? or I can i go without all the special gear and still be good? I dont see how its practical otherwise to even get into PvP in this game if it takes so long to grind up to tier 5.

2 years? should only take like a month. the epohh race in the winter event is a good way to earn marks for all the different reps relatively fast, at least fast enough to keep up with leveling. its almost over though

You can play TD matches no mater your gear (with in reason) and skill level. The first 2 tiers of all the reps go by pretty quick. Which would give you at least the basic space passives. The other stuff is all nice to have but not big thing... at tier 2 you can unlock a mk xi borg set if you wish... you can get a fleet shield easy enough. If you don't have a fleet with access asking around is pretty easy to get access.

A good set of pvp weapons is very subjective and everyone is going to tell you something different. however most people will agree you can get away with some pretty inexpensive purple sets these days. Ask here or on the forums if you think you need to change that stuff and we can give you some value suggestions.

If you come to play a few games in TD just be honest with everyone let them know what your running. Often the "vets" that have uber ships... really don't mind jumping in there neglected toons for some rounds... gives people a chance to dust them off for a bit. lol

Come with a good attitude leave any fleet tags at the door and be ready to punch and be punched. :)
