Would being able to bring 1 or 2 boffs to ground elite stfs make them playable again? Make them more popular?
As it is now, 99% of people play space stf because they have pimped out their ships and its fairly easy.
But with the battlezone showing how fun it can be to bring your boffs with you, this could bring back ground maps.

Yes completely agree here, but if and when cryptic allow this, remains to be seen.
It would be a miracle if this was brought in.
I kind of disagree. After playing in the Battlezone, I find that my boffs are often more of a liability rather than an asset. They end up dead even with healing skills and I see other peoples boffs dead all the time. Especially during V-rex fights. They weren't so bad in story missions because those are super easy, but put them into an end game scenario and they fall flat. Literally.
They badly need some AI adjustments before any more content with boffs get added. Even something as simple as "don't stand in the mortar fire circle and die" and "use hypos only when injured". Until that happens, I just can't support more boff content.

Until a missile-using enemy shows up, then one salvo puts them down because they flat out refuse to get out of the purple circles of death.
They are, and always have been, nothing but a force multiplier. They need to be more intelligent about their surroundings and be less like Gradius options with ADD.
Elite Ground are still easily playable now. You don't need to bring boffs with you.
That being said, Battlezone was a great move and I think Defera should be revamped to support a similar style of play.
Well, Defera is easy as it is now.. adding BOFF's there... uhhh... can just go have a snack and let my BOFF's do the work... (which would not be as much fun.. :P)
Although I'd love to see Defera revamp, in terms of making it actual battlezone, with similar concept to what we have in Dyson. Would encourage people cooperating, rather than running through the zone like bunch of wussies & stealing from other players...

Considering that KAGE can be pretty much one man the entire way until you reach the room and you only need two people that know what they are doing to get the room done. Same with CGE where the 2nd/3rd is just to micro manage the generators while IGE is pretty much the only one where you need a competent group of players due to time limit on optional if you are going for it and trigger lines.
Other than that ground STFs you can pretty much 1 man everything with the right build. Hell you don't even need to fully spec into ground for it just the minimum amount and know where to go and its easy. A lot of people just hate ground because they don't know what they are doing and that's the primary reason why people fail ground STFs.
I would love this for the ground missions. If you have a remotely competent team the elite missions are not hard at all but that is a HUGE if. Most of the time I would prefer my BOFFs to the entire team I end up stuck with.
I know we should not be using pick up groups but that is hard to do fairly often and it would be nice to be able to do these in even poor pick up groups and bringing a couple BOFFs with me would help a lot with that.

Yeah, that's what I was suggesting.
I'm pretty sure that in certain places on Defera you can use your Boffs. I've seen people call in named Boffs (i.e. Not "Security Escort III") in the Power Plant interior.
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.

To my understanding, you can bring BOFF's to Defera through a glitch. I can't say, as I never needed my BOFF's on such easy zone as Defera. I mean, there's nothing in that zone, which would make me even run for my money. And yet, I see people glitching with BOFF's all the time... <.<
The rework would be awesome tho.. I love to kick the Borg shins', but it gets highly discouraging when people just run through the zone and/or steal from others...

In fact, in the boss fights in IGE and CGE they would be a libility if you tried to use them. With the AI the way it is, they would just drag you down. They would get assimilated half the time, and the other half they would just end up getting hosed, requiring you to take the time to resuscitate them.
As platewearingbird mentioned, they are merely a force multiplier.
Ground ESTFs are a easy already, all you need is a a halfway decent team.
If you need to do a ground ESTF, form a team in one of the channels made for it, EliteSTF, or whatever the public one is (I forget). You can ask your fleet members for help. Pugging ground is a mixed bag.
They are NOT hard. The only thing that make them difficult is the stupidity of other players.
Learning the strategies and getting halfway decent gear will get your further than giving the borg more things to shoot at.
Everyone does space because it is so stupidly easy you could let your cat play. People have so much fire power now that space is facerolled. There is absolutely no challenge in space ESTFs, even in pugs.
They aren't needed and they'd just TRIBBLE up the optionals. In fact they'd die quickly and since the team's human members wouldn't have time to rez them, they'd just lay dead near the start of the mission most of the time.

However, would it be balanced?

They cannot act flexibly, whereas a human can.
