torpedo point defence

hi, i was just checking to see if this is right.

one of my friends got a torpedo point defence console, and he is able to equip it to any ship.

i wanted one, so i was going to get the armitige, with the console, but i read in the description, that the console will only work in that ship.

is this right?

how come others are equipping it to shuttles and stuff?

    No, Torpedo Point Defense System does go with everything. You might have looked at something else.

    You sure he didn't mention it was the phaser point defense console? You can equip the phaser point defense console (or KDF disruptor version from lockboxes) from the Thunderchild class onto any ship. Torpedo Point Defense can only be equipped on the Armitage or fleet variant.

    The torpedo and point defense systems on the wiki both show to be universal consoles able to be equipped on any ship.

    it seems unfair, but i my friend can put it anywhere, he did "the vault" with it in the shuttle.

    but the c-store says,

    "the photon torpedo point defence system can only be equipped on the heavy escort carrier. it may be placed in any console slot, but you may only equip one of these mods."

    this must have been a recent change. this is vary unfair:(

    It's not recent. It's always been like this since the Armitage came out.

    The Torpedo point defense console is a t5 ship console which means it's supposed to only be used on the ship it comes with...AKA the Heavy Escort Carrier and Fleet version. If it's equipable on any ship then it's probably bugged.

    I love the phaser PD console. Has saved my life many times and does great amounts of burst damage :) ALL of my ships carry it.

    The torpedo point defense console clearly states that it ONLY equips to the escort carrier. The phaser point defense console can be equipped to anything.

    It's also pretty much an I-win button on a shuttle. You can clear two or three wings of fighters and cut a walker in half in aerial assault.

    It is even more effective when used on fighters since they have two tactical consoles that can boost its damage.

    For Klingons we have a distruptor point defence system, although it still looks like phasers.
