Hi all, was hoping to get your advice on a weapons choice for my Charal.
I'm presently working on a new ultimate PVP Charal, to incorporate all the new boosts that S7 and soon S8 will give us whilst still keeping the awesome Andorian blue. But theres one field I'm still a little hazy on.
I've been considering changing at least a couple of my Fleet Tetryon DHC's (Accx2 obviously) for Phased Tetryon Mx XI's (again Accx2).
MK12 Phased Tets would make it a much simpler choice, but 20 million is beyond what I'm willing to pay per gun.
I'm unsure of how effective the Phaser proc is right now, so would it be worth the loss in raw damage to pick up the proc chance?
I've been thinking about going for a hybrid setup, with 2 Phased Tets and 2 Fleet.
As I understand it there's an immunity period after each proc. Two DHC's pouring out shots, boosted by rapid fire and scatter volley should keep the proc up for about the same length of time as if I were using four (I think), whilst not losing the raw power of the Fleet Guns on the other two slots.
So what do you all think is the best choice? 4 MK XI Phased Tets, Just 2 or 3 Phased or just stick with all Fleet.
If Phased Tets are a viable option, whats the best way to maximise the value of the subsystem disable is any? Eg Flow caps increasing duration (Dont think they do any more but you know what I mean).
Its about the only game mechanic I'm still hazy on, since Ive always used Tetryon for my Fed and Disruptor for my KDF and Reman.
This is mostly concerned with PVP, since PVE is a complete snore these days.
On an unrelated note, have they gotten round to releasing Elite Fleet Andorian Phaser weapons yet?

I remeber when they were first released they were inferior and overpriced, but I was wondering if theyd been buffed since. Dont think so since I cant see any change in their store description but I thought there was a chance theyd recieved a stealth buff.

Nope, still the same old weapons. Overpriced and basically lacking 2 modifiers compared to fleet weapons. One of the worst and most disappointing purchases I've made in STO so far...
Thanks, though that's such a shame. Twice the cost for such a sub standard weapon seems ridiculous, I really hoped theyd give it a buff of sort.
Like increasing the refract range and/or chance.
Still, at least the phased tets look good. What do you think, would two phased tet dhc's be enough to maximise the phaser susbsystem disable, or should I go all out with four of them?
Also, do flow caps boost phaser disable duration? When i asked in ingame chat someone said they did, but I cant find any proof of it.

I don't get it either, but I've seen several people who say that Flow Caps affect procs directly.
As to Phased Tets... I personally wouldn't really worry about the Phaser proc. I have a Galaxy Dreadnought that has a Phaser build, but I never see the procs actually do any good.
Why not go for the Tetryons that have the 10% chance to proc instead of the 2.5% chance? Wouldn't that be more effective for you? The faster you can make your target's shields go down, the faster you can tear into their hull.
Isn't the duration of the Phaser's proc roughly half a second anyway? Too fast to be of any use whatsoever.

I haven't actually looked at phased tets, but for regular tetryon, flowcaps increases the drain proc, at least according to the tooltip. Can't parse it, so can't test it easily, but the tooltip certainly changes. It also affects polaron procs.
Subspace decompiler increases proc duration on phasers.
It stands to reason that both affect the respective procs on a phased tet. They do for a phased polaron.
