That way I could have:
Attack Pattern Omega 3
Beam Over Load 3
Attack Pattern Beta 1
Torpedo Spread 1
Auxiliary to Structural 2
Reverse Shield Polarity
Engineering Team
Emergency Power to Weapons 2
Emergency Power To Shields 1
Transfer Shield Strength 2
Hazard Emitters 1
Tractor Beam
Not the most pimp set up, but the one that would let me enjoy a nice PVE adventure on a galaxy class starship the most while still feeling like it does the majority of what the Enterprise did in TNG. It just kills me that my dream layout for this ship can be done on the The Vet Ships, the Jem'Hadar Heavy Escort Carrier, and the dreadnought warbirds.
So How about you guys and gals? What Ship's bridge officer layout really bums you out, and what would you like to change it to?

This is pretty much what I suggested (in other threads) except the Lt Uni I had as Lt Eng.
I would support either
I feel this layout would make it as versatile as many of us feel it should be.
That said, I'd rather see it happen as a new Galaxy variant on the Z-Store.
People have already bought the Fleet Gal-R knowing what the layout was. To change it after the fact, I think, would be unethical.

I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

If they simply changed the Ensign Engineer to a Universal Ensign slot on the Galaxy-R, how would that be unethical?

That's a change of the Gal-R that I've been asking for, for a loooong time now.
I don't believe... if that's the only change... that it would be unethical, as they could use the ship exactly the same way, including boff layout.
I should have been more specific in my earlier post. My apologies.

Defiant class. Obviously the ensign tac station sux for c-store ship that fas nothing more than the equivalent raptor (the free one at lvl 45 have same boff layout and INBUILT cloak not a console).
simply change that ensign tac to universal, or do we ask for too much for 2000 Zen?
Cmdr: Eng
Lt. Cmdr: Sci
Lt. Cmdr Tac

Would be perfect IMO.

I would change all ships layout with one Commander Universal BOFF slot, called First Officer. In fact, i might even consider that any BOFF used as First Officer could train any skill of all three if they wanted to.
Watch Riker in Nemisis, he is calling out command, rearranging shields, rolling ship, attack patterns, etc while they are in combat, so it would be canon to do so....
It's a shame that ships like the Heavy Cruiser and Star Cruiser got ignored for so long

nothing. i want a Recluse boff build on a JHDC that is skinned into the Odyssey or Galaxy frame.
I.E. a true federation carrier
True, I recall a blueprint of a Galaxy class that showed the hanger bay as being a rather significant portion of the saucer section, definitely big enough to carry a few waves of runabouts.
Of course I have no idea if those blue prints were "cannon" but it sure makes sense to me that a large exploration cruiser such as the Galaxy class (in both show and game) would have a large contingent of small craft for random exploration and other tasks. Those shuttle bay doors certainly looked big enough to launch runabouts and peregrines.
The Fleet Heavy Escort Carrier really needs that tactical ensign changed.
Optimal:
Cmdr Tac, Lt Tac, Lt Cmdr Eng, Lt Sci, Ens Uni
I don't think that's asking too much. I'd totally buy a "make an ensign slot universal" token, for say 200 zen. But really, at fleet level it should come with at least one universal station.
Comments
I would like:
Com: Enginear
Lt.Com: Universal
Lt: Science
Lt: Tactical
En: Universal
The ship was always meant to be multi-role and its other limitations already prevent it from outperforming more dedicated ships.
The limited number of tactical and science consoles.
The horrible maneuverability.
The inability to fit dual cannons.
These are all the limitations it needs to not infringe upon the other cruiser types without forcing it to use 3 engineering ensign abilities as well.

A commander ltc and ens science slot on that ship drives me nuts
WHAT ACTUAL SCIENCE DID VOYAGER DO REALLY??
I would Prefer a set up to this
Commander Science
LtC Engineer
Lt Universal
Lt Tac
Ens Universal
the ship was shown as a truly dynamic capable of any situation ship but most importantly thanks to B'Ellana and Seven, an Engineering miracle
Would be perfect IMO.
LTC Tac

and thus no wasted slots
That'd be a nice change. although the following would be nice too.

I would make the ensign tac a universal.
I'd give it something like that:
