Hey, I've been lurking a while and just recently started to frequent ker'rat. I'm not completely inept, but I don't know everything either.
So, I want to post my build and see if anyone has any other idea's. So far, the ship has some bite and can take some decent hits as well. Like everyone, I lose some and win some. it's all in good fun.
Let me know what you guys think. I do swap Boff's and put another cannon on the build as well and get rid of BO2/3 and change the warp core to the obelisk core and the omni AP beam for the added AP damage boost. Both ways work good
with the all cannon build
crit chance - 14.4% (w/o cloak) -- 13.4% (cloak)
crit severity - 80.0%/73%
Beam Overload build
crit chance - 11.7%
crit severity - 72%
doffs -
2 x purple conn officers - TT/buff
1 x blue conn officer - TT/buff
1 x blue Energy weapons officer - chance to gain shield power
1 x purple technician - reduce cooldown on boff powers

1marion
1 maintenance battery buff doff
Go for the ultimate alpha strike build...or just scrap the defiant altogether. super squishy/normal cloak/poor boff layout.
Ya, kill them on a hyper cloak alpha, or you doomed. Cheers.
My PvE/PvP hybrid skill tree
This guy only works with aux2bat.

1 quantum
2 turret
1 cutting beam

this actually works quite well for the alpha boom boom, But i was looking for something that would be a little different just for giggles.
depending on the mood i swap a chroniton torp in teh back for the running away slow downs.

This would be my edit... one issue... my build is fairly costly in terms of doffs... however if you like flying escorts... Attack pattern Doffs are the way to go.
With that build... Run 2 Dmg Control Doffs... Run 2 Attack Pattern doffs... and a thrid of your choice. You could run one more dmg control... or a hazard doff for a good resist boost what ever you like really, the shield power doff you where running is probaly a great choice.
I suggested putting a leech console on there... its pretty much standard equip now.
I also respeced you a bit. The new spec will give you more power and more resistance as well better to get the full ACC bonus then the bit of extra crti from the tier 5.
Also removed some of your sci point spec that isn't helping you but maxed your flow spec in ter 1 cause it boosts leech.
Power wise I also moved your points around... effic is pointless past 4 or so points... and I put points for you into Aux power in teir 5... keeping aux up will keep your heal strenght higher (including your borg heal proc)... still good to switch to aux power before using your heals... but being higher to start will still mean more power.
Also you want to get the cutting beam/borg console combo... the omega amp proc it gives you is very powerful and will boost your dps by a good amount.

Go over this list of skill spend to get an idea of why I made the changes.
Another thing to consider... if you can live with out the standard cloak. If you switch to a fleet patrol or a Fleet escort... you can instead of running the target engines 1 or low end torp skill... you could switch to EPTE 1 and EPTS 1... and run Aux to Damp... if you do that you would want to get the new Aux to Damp doff that extends its durration and gives you a good resistance boost. I find that to be much more viable right now then the defiant... as with damp up most of the time you would be immune to Gravity wells and repulsors which are pretty popular right now.
I'll just pop in and say that if you want to play the Escort game and you find yourself not making much use of the cloak that his recommendation of the Fleet Patrol is good advice.
If you do want to play the decloak game, and you are not specifically in love with the Defiant, you will be significantly better off as a Romulan (1st choice) in a TVaro, Dhelan or Mogai - or as KDF (2nd choice) in a BoP.
No doubt... if you want to play the decloak gank game... really the defiant isn't the ship. Once your decloaked in a match you won't be recloaking until the Enemy or you are dead (for the most part)... or you will have to run out of range and wait to break combat to recloak.
If you want to cloak... play a rom and get some Battle cloak no doubt.
I have a Rommy/KDF and i'm currently leveling up a Rommy/Fed to stay with my current fleet.. I like escorts, they're fun. So soon I will be running my romulan to see what I can do with battlecloak.
Yep its a different game play style then the escort... but its similer of course.
If you like fed style escorts... look at the Fleet Patrol... and or the fleet saber. (the patrol is on paper slightly better... but I enjoy flying the saber more myself)
When I fly a Fed Escort... I think of it just like that as an "escort' I think of my ship as flying a role very much like the Fighter Escorts of World War 2.
I run Delta instead of beta so I can protect my team mates when they are under attack... I basicly stay with the group... circle the outside... trying to peel attackers off the group.
One thing you may want to consider in general... is where you have your "target of my target" Window when you are playing.
What I do is I put that window, and my main target window very close to the middle of my screen... not right in the middle obviously... Mine is slighly off center and just above where I am looking... I see my target info easily this way.
I put my target of target just under and closer to the center so I always see who my target is shooting at.
You can very easily target there target by clicking on that window... for throwing Tac teams on team mates when they are under attack.. .as well as putting Delta on them. This will also debuff the people shooting at them. If your teammate has them targeted themselves its a very fat motion to click the target of target window basicly twice... once cast your delta/tac team or spot heal... and click it again to get back to shooting at there attacker.
Honestly I find Fed Escort... to be a completely different game play from the battle cloak game play which is more like playing Wolf Pack Sub commander.
