Romulan boff -> Superior subterfuge.

Superior subterfuge + battle cloak -> ???

Is it worth investing in?

    Question is if you're gonna spend on an embassy boff, do you want the Stealth bonus, or do you get someone with Superior Operative to get the crit bonus? Sadly the Embassy doesn't have any boffs with both, so you have to choose.

    If you have a Rom character, you could try slotting only allied-faction BOffs and compare it to your performance with a Rom Faction Subterfuge BOFf while battle cloaking to get a feel for the difference it'd do on your KDF battle cloaker. With all the changes to the trait, I'm not sure where it stands currently.

    That decision is made easier by only the mid-tier Male Rom Tacs having Superior Operative, and Superior Subterfuge being available on all top-tier professions. So you could go with 2-3x Tacs with Superior Operative then an Eng or Sci with Subterfuge (cloaking part isn't supposed to stack anymore, IIRC).

    Will try that.

    Exactly; if Subterfuge doesn't do it, I'll just get two Nausicaans. :)

    Unfortunately their stealth bonus doesn't stack, just the damage bonus. (Already tried it as a cheap substitute for the embassy boffs. D'oh! :) )

    Ok, this is confusing me.

    I just tried it out with my rom char. I have 3 boffs with superior subterfuge AND superior romulan operative (I got REALLY lucky with my boff rolls while levelling up).

    However, when I remove ALL 3 OF THOSE BOFFS from the ship, the damage bonus after decloaking is the same. Different combinations of those boffs seem to change NOTHING. I even tried removing all of my boffs and adding one subterfuge at a time; but the after-cloak damage does not appear to change.

    What's going on?? :\

    I meant the Nausicaans, their straight damage bonus from Pirate stacks but their stealth bonus doesn't. Romulans with Subterfuge, I believe that the Defense bonus stacks but the rest of the Subterfuge bonus is limit one (just checked my T'varo).

    If you're getting Romulan boffs with Subterfuge and Operative though, then that means you're Romulan? (And posting in the wrong subforum?) In that case, then yeah just in general get as many Subterfuge-Operatives-combos as you can, plus maybe one Reman with Subterfuge-Infiltrator to extend the decloak bonus. Thought you meant the embassy boffs.

    I think they may have removed any sort of damage bonus, and now Subterfuge reduces the cooldown to recloak. The Stealth bonus I think only makes you harder to see while cloaked.

    It's a test I suggested to get a feel of how Subterfuge works without having to invest so much for Embassy BOffs on KDF by trying using the nice free Rom BOffs Rom side.

    I'm seeing no damage increase with subterfuge. :\

    You can get Romulan Boffs as KDF via the fleet embassy. Not as wide a selection as a Rom captain, but its still good.

    The Embassy BOFFs are a bit hit or miss.

    If you're using ships with standard cloaks, it may not be worth it at all. This is due to the cloaks only being activated out of combat, and if you're in combat in a near constant cycle, those nice cloak specific traits are practically useless.

    If you are intending to use KDF BOPs for their Battle Cloaks (which now have +30% decloak damage bonus instead of 15, BTW), then the Embassy BOFFs become more attractive. All the BOFFs will have Subterfuge as a base. The other trick is getting Superior Romulan Operative, which pumps up Criticals and lessens the Cloak cooldown timer. The Tactical ones have Superior Romulan Operative starting at the Rare quality. IIRC the other types can get them also, but only at the very pricy Very Rare quality. I'd check before buying though.

    1) I'm using a Fleet Ho'Sus BoP.
    2) My battle cloak tooltip still says 15%. When will the 30% change be instituted?
    3) Only male blue tac rom boffs have superior operative. I recently got 1, and will be getting another.

    So my original question still stands: is there any advantage to getting subterfuge? Especially since the damage bonus does not seem to exist anymore?
