Winter Jackets

... Why aren't they account-wide unlocks? Seriously, cryptic?

Also, I gotta say, not making them color-able might have sounded like a good idea in the boardroom from a dev time and effort vs player time and effort point of view (We have to grind four times as long to get all four jackets, all you have to do is recolor the same item - vs - you have to make four actual different clothing items to get us to grind the same amount of time), but in practise? Not so much. I want a blue one, thanks.

haha, I just ran into this. I bought brown short length for all my Starfleet Characters, and was thinking of getting a black short for my tac, but it's a stretch with the 8/8

8/8 meaning beads and bells. Everything else I've got plenty of, if not stacks on stacks.

Blue might make you look a bit more Vault-Tec :D

They have to do something to keep you in the game. Maybe we'll get blue next year?

Have you guys been running the 5 or so holiday related DOff missions as well? now without even critting a Doff mission, and doing say wonderland and gingerbread, you should be pretty much able to get at least a jacket a day(this is assuming somewhere on the order of 1 hour a day), depending on how much playtime you put in(meaning you could get even more)

*EDIT: and absolute worse case now, beads for example are now running around 16k(at 9:30est 12/15) on the exchange so with a little Starbase24 and just dumping eq on the vendors you should also be able to easily get what you need*

Doesn't matter how many holiday trinkets I get, I still can't have a blue jacket ;)

got a clipping issue with the long jackets, pants left seat cheek, backside. when fast running the clipping issue can be seen all the time.

my only issue with the jackets.

anyway, a lot of my toons have jackets and two have risian sunglasses to take the cake as it were, im usually quite good of making something from absolutely nothing when pushed. latest example is a ferengi with full winter kit, hail/flurry & mortar :P best time to raid the snowman is in the morning BST/CET, can get upto 5/6 loads from that extra from pie and winter invasion plus anything from the exchange if needed.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

And it's 5 colours of jackets (3 styles), not 4. Green, red, brown, black, white. Styles are: cropped, short, long.

It's not that hard. I already have almost 100 of each of the uncommons.

The number of colors is somewhat irrelevant to the point I was making, but okay.

Yes a blue, yellow, and purple of each type would have been nice.

SOrry, part of what I perceived was a complaint about the ability to gather the materials to get the various versions, I took the coloration thing to be secondary.

In time we will probably see other colors added I assume, this year just seemed to be themed on primary 'christmas' colors, last year was brown/black/white

    2014 who knows.

Those jackets are badly done. They have clipping and resolution issue since they appeared first in the game a year before.
    Better sell them on exchange.

I haven't had any issues getting bells and beads.... I've in fact been stock piling some winter jacket packs to sell on the exchange sometime after the event is over and the prices go back up.

Lol, I'd love to see some purple coats. And maybe some way to shade the colours of the ones already here.

The jackets look really good in the off duty slot and with the merc set pieces, the jackets are really easy to get without them being account wide

To answer the OPs question, the reason is that it is ABSURDLY easy to get these coats. I mean literally, I can do one set o Duty Officer missions, and buy several jackets.

The jackets should at least have a couple of color options. Like the green jackets for 2013 would always have white accents, but it could choose between 3 or 4 shades of green. I can understand having the color schemes be unique to each unlock, but at this rate, we will never have all of the different variations on a 'green jacket' theme, especially if next year's jackets go for other winter-y colors.
Take a look at my Foundry missions!

I'd rather see these get a palette and be condensed into just the three different styles. It's ridiculous going to change your costume and seeing 15 different options in the tailor on your list just for winter coats.

If for some reason that's impossible, yes... give them at least a palette that allows the colors to be shaded within reason. Different shades of green for the green jacket, different reds for the red jacket, etc.

    I wouldn't mind seeing this being used.:D
