A resetting PvEvP war zone like Ker'rat.
No. occupancy limit.
Dead player's are respawned back to Sector Space until the zone resets or a 15 minute Cool Down has passed.
Yeah i could see something like this being the death of kerrat and otha. At some point you would end up with 30 or so kdf hunting down the few remaining feds left and booting them from the zone. This idea may be great for other games but here the war zones would die a fast death. The player dies and gets booted from kerrat after a cheese littered 2 second gank death, do you honestly think he is going to sit in sector space bored out of his mind waiting for the zone to reset?
Also this games engine can barely handle the 20 player limit with all those borg npcs. Much more than that and this games server burns lol!
No. I think I'd go to another war zone system. Or daily. Or queue up from right where I respawned.
Except we only have 3 total and one is for ground so that counts out 99 percent of the pvpers in this game. Only feds can get to nvak if they are given diplomatic immunity as well. Not enough war zones in this game to implement this. Eta Eridani would have to be turned into a true FULL war zone sector with nothing but different war zone systems. You honest to god think the devs would ever give this game that kind of pvp love? I mean yeah there are pve objectives but the zone is primarily for shooting at other players.

Not sure how you can be so certain as to how it would play out, but why limit it to Eta Eridani?

I honestly don't know what the devs will do. I'm just making suggestions for the type of game I would like to play.
Add a PVP zone inside the Dyson Sphere. You fight over omega particle generators, needing to capture and defend so many to obtain a set number of omega particles. Fed vs KDF (with roms splitting according to alliance), limit either 5 or 10 players per side per instance.
Make the justification based off black ops - Drake or K'men tell you to steal omega particles for your faction at any cost - your cover is that you have went renegade. The larger alliance holds, but you get to fight each other with Voth NPCs flying around. Considering that the KDF stole plans for the Mogh Battlecruiser and the Omega particles are so important, it is not hard to believe that section 31 or II would want to obtain some in secret.
The rewards could be:
Winning Faction
1st Place (Scored same as Kerrat)
1 Purple Mk XII random drop
960 Dilithium Ore
50 Marks (Choose Dyson or Fleet)
2nd Place
1 Purple Mk XI random drop or 1 Blue mk XII
960 Dilithium Ore
50 Marks (Choose Dyson or Fleet)
3rd through 5th Place
1 Blue mk XI or Green mk XII random drop
480 Dilithium Ore
25 Marks (Choose Dyson or Fleet)
Losing Faction:
240 Dilithium Ore
10 Marks
The zone would be designed to take roughly 5 minutes if a premade is stomping it, ~15 for an average pug.
You get a new PVP zone, new NPC enemies and actually useful rewards.
There could be a mission - doing it 3 times gives 1440 dilithium ore and 1 Dyson Commendation, allowing you to grind Dyson through PVP.
That would be good, but the thing I'm looking for is at least one map to be implemented with a "single elimination" mechanic.
One of my reasons for this is that I think it would alleviate some of the "hurt" feelings that come from being rapidly and repeatedly killed in a single contest. It would definitely alleviate the frustration that comes from respawn camping.
The idea is that in an open PvP single elimination map, when you see that you are overwhelmed, you can try to evade and warp out, without incurring a cool down. Once outside of the map, you can try to gather some troops and reenter in strength.
Once a side has won, by putting everyone else on cool down, they can farm in relative peace. Then the map resets and everyone can reenter.
If, the map doesn't reset, players can reenter as their cool downs expire.
I like open world PvP. Some of my most fondly remembered times of playing WoW were the massive battles that would crop up at the Crossroads.
No, people would cry about my fleet even more in Kerrat when farmers get 15 min lockouts. Its not so much a problem for me with so many alts, but I don't want to get others kicked out for 15 min.
In any event it would not have to be 15 minutes. I just put that out as a fail-safe against the PvE mission not being completed in a timely fashion. I assume that the lock-out would most often be much shorter than that.
eta: And we're talking about being locked out of just one map. There are more places to go and queues to enter in the game.
While this might work as a way to try to slow the farmers down. At least until they switch characters to the opposing faction and continue their farming.
15 minutes before you can re-enter? That sounds like a penality for playing and dieing in the zone.. And Open PVP zones don't need that.
You think that your beta test was bad?

So you mean don't have fun in kerrat anymore, thats what you are trying to do, destroy all the fun there.
edit: Wait, the guy that can go on for pages babbling about anything...and all he says is, "I'm um...baffled." in reply to this thread? Wait, I'm talking about myself in the third person here? Yeah, this thread has me that baffled...like, wtf?
That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.

Hmmm..
As I said before, XKCD is your friend...
I call it, the Stoutes paradox.
