Fleet Light Cruiser Retrofit

I understand the Miranda is almost as old as the Constitution-class, but the Centaur-class is DS9-era ShiKahr-class is STO-era, and no Trek battle scene is complete without a bunch of cannon fodder ships getting blown up.

More importantly... Cryptic/CBS have already acquired permission to use Mark Rademaker's designs, so... Fleet/Light Cruiser Retrofit? C-store Retrofit including the lovely Merian-class skin? I'd happily pay money for it.

2000Z for the c-store version.

Stats, I'd think.... Somewhere between a mix of cruisers and escorts? Can mount dual cannons, but with a more engineering focused BoFF/console layout? 3:3 weapons? Two cruiser commands, weapons/shields?

Discuss.

IMO it should be counted as a "frigate". I think it should have 4 fore/4 aft weapon slots, and elements of tactical ships, engineering ships, and science ships. Dual cannon mounts, comm array commands, and whatever new thing sci ships are getting. (canonically, the Miranda-class has 2 deflector arrays, sooo...)

And with all of those abilities, it should retain low HP for balance.

    IMO of course.

A jack of all trades ship could be interesting to be sure. Give it a Boff layout like the D'Deridex and I'd be sold.

Let it rot at the lower tiers with the Connie. There's a reason that Mirandas are referred to as cannon fodder. Keep em there.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once. B)

Oh my god, I love you.

Not sure on the 4/4 weapons though, but still, this would be awesome. Or the two deflectors.

By "low" hull points, what do you mean? Comparable to the squishier of the T5 Escort Retrofits? or less?

Jack of all trades ship though, that's what I was hoping/thinking of originally.

I love the tier 5 frigate Miranda idea. Putting a Raider style boff setup on a small fed ship would provide endless PVE entertainment. I'm not asing for flanking or cloaking so please don't call me a klink hater I love my K'tinga's.

4/4 is too much. It should be 3/2, with Cdr Tac, Cdr Eng, and Cdr Sci, the Fleet Miranda Retrofit, thus being an upgrade of the same ship you remember, with the same 3 guys, instead of suddenly gaining more dudes.

    Not a bad idea IMO.

Not sure Cmdr everything would be a good idea though, LtC Tac/Eng/Sci + Ens universal? Or Lt uni?

    I mean, a ship that can use CRF3, GW3 and EWP3? Or APB3, VM3 and AB3?

Or, like mentioned earlier, 3 Lt uni stations like the BoPs? No flanking, no cloak, just a crappier BoP - but a crappy *Fed* BoP.

e: I'm not a KDF hater and I don't want to take everything special from the KDF (each faction *should* play differently), but something *new* and *different* for the Federation would be neat.

e2: I would definitely happily pay money for this. Not 5000Z, probably not 2500Z. 2000Z, maybe, 1500Z/less, easily.

I don't know about a Fleet Refit. However I do want new skins for the Miranda.

In particular I want the following:

    TOS style (Called the Anton)
Saratoga (From DS9 Pilot "Emissary", side mounted sensor pod option)
    Lantree (no rollbar option)
Soyuz (dorsal and ventral turrets in place of the rollbar)

2/2 weapons, mediocre hull and shields but some unique support ability (superior sensor scans, integrated photonic projector to mimic other ships (including their unique abilities in somewhat inferior form), redshirt-ish sacrifice manneuver to safe an ally from blowing up by drawing the fatal shot)

IF we are getting any skin it is going to be the Soyuz class because it is awesome

The Soyuz-class was outdated in TNG, 30+ years previous to STO. Judging by the uniforms, it's probably pre Enterprise-C era. The Ambassador-class is only still active because it's a large ship that was built with the finest technology of the time - the Soyuz was (presumably) a modification of the outdated (or more likely), an uprated version of the Miranda-class. The Merian-class looks like it's a 2409-version of the Miranda, which it is. The Nova-class and Nebula-class may have been built to replace the Miranda's purposes, but frigates are still important.

The ship should handle similar to the T5 escorts, but with a 3:3 weapons setup and no specific focus on anything, and perhaps no dual cannons. Not sure on the "no DHC" thing.

Light Cruiser Retrofit/Frigate Retrofit (the light cruiser should just be renamed to "Frigate", both because A, that's about what the LC is - a squishy frigate and B, to be consistent with the cannon fodder NPCs)
    Requires Tier I shipyard

    Consoles:
    Lt Tac
    Lt Eng
    Lt Sci
Cmdr Uni (It can do *anything*, but it can't do any one specific thing *well* - want gravity well? Sure go ahead. Have fun dying at a dark look. Want Eng Team 3? Sure, have fun tickling them to death. Want Cannon: Rapid Fire III? I hope you enjoy dying a lot. And single cannons. Perhaps a LtC uni instead?)

Fore weapons: 3 (comes with a single cannon, an array and a torpedo launcher)
Aft weapons: 3 (comes default with a turret, an array and a torpedo launcher)

Base Hull: 25,000 (the weakest T5 Escort, the Escort Retrofit, has 27,600 hull - this is the Saber-class, which was built to fill a similar role, but 50~ years later.)
Base Crew: 300? (More than the T5 Escorts to balance out it's ridiculously paper-thin hull)
    Shield modifier: 1.1? 1.05?
Device slots: 3 ( 1 more than an Escort, 1 less than a Cruiser. Perfect for a cannon fo- err. frigate)
    Base turn: 14? 15?

Impulse/inertia modifiers: Not entirely sure on this, I don't know enough to set this, but it should be similar to the T5 escorts, fast and agile (what with that being what frigates are - fast ships) and relying primarily on speed tanking than anything else.
