"An Enterprising Legacy" official mission thread.

Reporting this here from "Foundry discussion" section as this fits better here.

Hello guys and girls of STO!

So, I'd just like to say that I have recently bought some project slots for the foundry and that I am now beginning to make a drive into making good use of the foundry. As such, I would like to announce my first major foundry mission project, "An Enterprising Legacy"!

This is the first time I have ever used the foundry but it is a project I am quite enthusiastic about and I intend to create a high quality mission for everyone to enjoy. To that end, I am going to check through every nook and cranny of the foundry system, learn everything I can about its technical capabilities, endeavour to make a fun and enjoyable story with an interesting premise and characters while remaining consistent and logical to it's own rules and those set by the Star Trek universe, BEFORE publishing the mission so that it can be the best it can be.

I am not going to post a full synopsis just yet for what it is about, but I'm sure you can guess some details from the title. To give an appetiser for it though, let's just say that it's a little trip down memory lane and that you are going to go back to a familiar place for a special purpose.

Now, here's the bad part.
I'm just one average person who's just now learning how to use the foundry and probably at a bad time as well due to it's state. I'm not a production group and I've only got so much spare time. This means there is no guarantee that this project will actually reach the light of publication. Even then, I'll likely make another unrelated mission first to test the water for my technical and writing ability so that I can see if I'm capable of making quality stuff. I want to be as good as I can be before making this first, as I really would like this particular project to succeed, however I have had the idea for the mission in my head for a long time and just had to speak out about it.

Hopefully I'll be able to make it soon. So far, I have all the maps I think I need for it, and am currently constructing the locations and NPC groups that will populate them. While my story outline idea is firmly in place, I have yet to begin on main plot details, actual characters and dialogue interactions. I am also still experimenting heavily on technical aspects like mob groups and showing ship names/registries in space. I may ask for some help in those areas but I'll see if I can't work them out myself first. If I do need help, I'll see if I can add your names into the credits.

That's all I have to say about, hope to see you people playing it soon!

Ok, so the post I made above was made some time about elary October, so I guess I should give an update of some kind. By this point, I have all but three maps completed and half the dialogue in place. However, I've hit a few snags with some story elements and I'm trying to make sure that they make sense, as well be presented in a good way.

So I guess in summary I got a few little writer's blocks going on but they're not my big problem. The big problem is time. Things are busy at college and at this stage I should be focusing on that more. Also, it didn't help that the foundry went down for a while either.

Other then that, I am hoping to get back into it during the Christmas holidays. I am not going to give a release date, at least not until I feel the mission is functional and for all intents and purposes, finished.

I am still committed to this people, and I will see it to its end, just bear with me.

    Thanks! :D
