whats the event like so far

I not had chance to play it so wondered how everyones finding it and what there doing and striving? :)

    That about sums it up.

    Nothing good in the store that wasn't there last year. Nerfed snowpiles has removed a lot of the fun. Only certain people can get Epohh tags because you have to win the PvP race for them now.

    So it's pretty bad. Not nearly as good as last year.
    You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.

    It was fun the first time, but now it's meh. Same maps, same items, same missions.

    pretty much what he said, nothing really new another not quiet so great ship as the last year one is and grind grind grind for what ?

    Its christmas time where are the actually presents ? I still got holiday gift receipts from the first year and can't use them...

    I guess after Season 8 they just been to lazy to come up with something new.

    The only thing a already hated after the first 5 minutes there, was the loud tacky voice overs....

    They turned snowball piles into pie eating, which has problems (The table slows you down) and introduced yet another cool down of fifteen minutes between pie eating.

    I guess they wanted to reduce payouts.

    Lets not forget the "new" outfits. I heard they where simply recoloring the jackets to include a red and green one. "That's fine" I thought to myself, I figured that they meant a blood red klingon colored and a romulan green colored jacket.

    Instead we got hideous Xmas green and red jackets that look like they where colored by my six year old.

    Though I do like the Snowblower, its fun.

    I never really got to play last year, epohh tags so guessing you turn them in for romulan marks? Shame they nerfed them why is that?

    To reduce payout. They want you to do more stuff to get the rewards.

    Too much waiting around to do stuff and get rewards. My friend told me you could get totally random stuff from snowball piles last year, which made the event so much more fun, and it was a chance to constantly keep yourself busy while in the Wonderland zone. No kidding, I nearly fell asleep inbetween the cooldowns on eating a pie and waiting for Snowman attacks..

    The Fast and the Flurious race and Snowman fight in the Winter Wonderland will be scheduled correctly and will not run at the same time after tonight's patch -- this should keep everyone busy at almost all intervals of the hour when participating in the PvP race, snowman fight, pie eating, Winter Invasion (once it comes back up), etc.

    So far, this looks like this year's Winter Event is a massive hill to climb. Mainly because the only way to earn the Uncommon Items is through killing the Snowman, while you had the odd chance of earning it in the snow piles. Though I don't miss the digging, especially all the bots that infested the place.

    So it would've been nice if Cryptic actually took account players trying to gain these items in the Winter Store, which for new players and characters...........they definitely am not going to get them all. Which means grind grind grind (or buy with Stupid Lobi).

    The on top of it, we need 250 of the blasted uncommons, for our starbases.



    So how can they expect us to have fun, if we have to do all this grinding for those stupid uncommons?

    Wish it was simple like the Summer Event, you need X Tokens and presto, not XYZ123 Tokens for O Item.

    I wish we had the option to trade common for uncommon items, with a 2-5/1 ratio with some NPC/console. The drop rate for green items is extremely low, and it really feel like a grind.
    Especially when you complete a whole instance, including optional, and earn none of them. I mean, it should be a guaranteed loot for a queued group content with 30m cd.

    The droprate was horrible last year to, but at least we were able to pull some from the snowpile. Now, I've just done a snowman event, from the beginning to the end on a low pop instance (around 15 people), which mean I did a lot of kill/dmg. My reward ? Around 6 common items. W00t.

    Some people dont mind the grind others do i suppose its all relative, if it was too easy to get stuff where would the fun be? Just seems no matter what cryptic do it cant please everyone, personally i think theyare doing the best they can nobody is perfect, the winter event may be different than last year but that just means willhave to wait on luckand hope you get what you want after all it adds to the fun, admittedly not for everyone but just enjoy it, they dont have to do an event at all but they do so be grateful

    This is a Xmas event. A lot of people, including myself, will spend more time with family and friend, than STO. That's not the best time to grind in a videogame, and I don't mind having the item easily this time. I mean, that's not MK XII endgame gear, that's just some outfits...

    Yea now if only the TRIBBLE 'race' wasn't the most annoying thing Cryptic had ever devised.

    First or last it is not as good as the summer event birds. In the same amount of time playing in the winter event I got enough tags for 2 epohh's but in the summer event I didnt have to compete and had enough eggs for 6 birds and not even have to do anything special for them eggs since they were random drops.

    I have to say compared to the summer event the drops are TRIBBLE. Special queue to get recipes and ofcourse the ninja looter will always get them... Fighting for pies against other players...     I respect what your saying but cryptic arent asking for all your hours there asking for a bit and xmas is one day really and you have till jan 16th so you have enough time, im sure the lack of loot will annoy me to but i love sto and as a proud lifer i will just strive on and get the coats and boots :) and of course the chel gret

    I respectfully disagree. I was happy to get 1 egg in 6 Horgahn hunts, 6 Horgahn hunts couldn't have been completed in less than 2 15 mins sessions and it was still a random drop.

    In the Winter wonderland, you get at least 2/6 tags for completing 1 race and when fixed, there are 4 races per hour -->You are guaranteed to get your 1 Epohh after 3 PvP races of 1 min each. (And if you win, you get 12 tags, worth 2 Epohhs, in 1 min of playtime.)

    It's not even comparable. Winter Wonderland rules!

    (Oh, and I forgot: Epohhs should be worth more marks than Parrots)

    I do want the new snow weapons but since they're useless outside of the even kind of meh.

    Well, Snowman Hunter is just as much fun as it was last year. :P I already racked up a few dozen commods. :D FEAR ME PUNY SNOW MEN! I've done the gingerbread event and that was nice too. It's definitely best with snow weapons though. Fortunately I acquired weapons on all my non-RR chars last year. So I'll just have them collect commods, then give the commods to my RR chars so they can get weapons and commence the massacre!

    So far I like the new snow guns a little bit, and also finding the present... that's the most funny thing right now. I won't tell you why though ;):)

    I have enjoyed it do far. Used 200 of my lobi from doing the re-reuns and did some snowball fighting and now I have all the new stuff I wanted already. Time to have fun with no grind. YAY!
