In the Voyager Series, the crew used what they called Compression Phaser Rifles. Personally, I think they look absolutly HOT!! Maybe offer a rare Compression Phaser Rifle in a Featured Episode, maybe to use with the upcoming EV suits? On TV it has bolt and beam ablility, maybe for the primary attack a regular bolt, and the powerful secondary attack could be a beam, kinda like a beam overload for ground combat. I think it would be a great addition to the game! Thanks
Here is a place with great stats and AWESOME pics of it.

lol okay, that said, new canon weapon costumes would be nice wouldn't they?
yes i agree lol
Yeah, I'm sure the recent enhancements in phasers have more to do with efficiency, safety, and utility than firepower. Many guns from the early 20th century and even some from before work fine today, but the average soldier needs something lighter, easier, more durable, and faster-firing. Starfleet's needs change, and it isn't just an arms race to make more powerful phasers, especially when they can already disintegrate people.
The classic phaser is like an old revolver. Keep it in good condition, and it shoots fine, but don't expect to be able to upgrade the targeting or have an abundance of power cells handy. But thank goodness for replicators.
