Whatever is most convenient for anyone and everyone!
I don't like and trust ARC. Nothing they offer could get me to use it. All I want is just a basic launcher.
Here are my thoughts on the new tutorial.
Overall I thought the tutorial lacked it's original intention that Cryptic wanted to do a new tutorial.......to educate new players in how to play STO. It's really no different than the original tutorial where it says "now do this", when it should be explaining everything from the start. For an example, the new tutorial really does not educate about the UI or the various pages that players have to use, like the Character Page, the Reputation system, the Traits, or even the Mission Journal. And in many games, a complicated UI can be very intimidating, so getting players to understand it from the beginning would be a good thing.
And you mentioned the cutscene, while some Star Trek music playing (maybe the fanfare) would've been nice. But what annoyed me the most is them using STO terms and saying "Warp 5 point nothing" and "maximum thrusters", they aren't even Star Trek terms. Nobody would say "nothing" they would say "Warp 5" and Thrusters, in Star Trek it was always "thrusters ahead full"
Then the story itself, doesn't really explain why we are war with the Klingons.
And when we get to Pollux, the Borg suddenly appeared and we have no reason why. How did they build a transwarp gate in the heart of Federation Territory and nobody noticed?. And it was never explained to the player how the Borg assimilated the Vega colony in a few hours.
This goes to another point.........the original tutorial was great how it was connected with the Khitomer Accord STF. Which unfortunately that is gone. That pretty much everyone agreed that was one of the best storylines in STO.
And finally the quirk that annoys me the most is them putting the Vega Star System in the Sirius sector, when it belongs "Northwest" of Sol in the Alpha Quadrant. I don't know why they didn't add the Alpha Quadrant like they said they were, but this would've been a golden opportunity for them to do so. And since the intention for the Alpha Quadrant was just Foundry doors, then surely that would not have taken any work to do.
Overall, I just think Cryptic was better off with the old Tutorial.
The Sphere Feedback:
Space Adventure zone playabily is terrible, but the artwork is fine. The Ground is fun, but it needs improvements like knowing where everyone is on the map and zone specific chat so you could coordinate teams.
Also be nice if Cryptic can go back and fix the new exploits, like people in the Space Allied Zone camping spots to get kill credit off people's dailies, making those doing the dailies having to do more work since the kills that spawned for them were taken away. Perhaps a system like the Academy Event where you get the credit and people that help are actually helping.
On the Ground, the Pink Spheres for Battle Credit, well people do all the work don't get their share while someone comes in and literally takes your work. So I think this should be fixed.
Oh BTW, Congratulations on the 150.
From the Star Fleet IP perspective it is a great refreshing attitude. The npc's and dialogue boxes reflect the Cadet scenario well. If one watches the opening introductory trailer narrated by Lenord Nemoy, it explains everything well enough to know Star Fleet is at war on several fronts. I thoroughly enjoyed playing thru the new Star Fleet Faction tutorial.
In closing, I still cannot justify playing STO. My play time is limited and the ridiculous amount of grinding it takes to unlock content equipment is absurd. Having 8 characters at level 50 or just playing one character at level 50 takes beyond the two hours a day a normal player has to get something accomplished that is gratifying. I enjoyed playing STO right up to Season 7. Having played from launch till S7, the game has made milestone improvements and I am sure many players would and do enjoy playing this game. This gamer will however stay away.
As far as arc is concerned there are no advantages to make we want to use it. Seeing the new in the launcher is not important since I already read that in my browser anyway. There are a few things I would like to see added. I think one of the easiest things they could as is allow me to add user specified party to launch at the same time. I use the act parser. If I go to run star trek online then why not let me run that in the same click.
How about letting me add ingame commands to the arc launcher so they are triggered when I start the client. If I dont have to type "/combatlog 1" each time then that is bonus. It would also help for the current /renderscale bug that is mentions on the forums.
If they want to add game news to the launcher have you at Priority one asked cryptic is you could add an rss feed for your podcasts to be linked in the arc launcher as a way to make it easier to find your podcast? I think this is the kinda content that might make arc a bit more palatable.
The only way I can see me caring about this new launch it to enhance my Star Trek playing experience. I have no interested in the other games that cryptic or pwe has to offer. I am content with the current launcher. Make me want to use this new one.

I love the warzone, its fun to go in with friends, this is what I was hoping the war against the KDF was going to be like when the game launched.
LTS, here since...when did this game launch again?
