As you level your rep there is more story to obtain. I was granted a cut scene mission that filled me in on more details. I won't spoil it for anyone so level that rep and see for yourself. I leveled rep one and should level rep 2 today and will report back if there is more or it was just a one off thing.

The rep 2 accolade says there is a story mission as well so it should go all the way up to 5, although i was disappointed that it was just a cut scene. its nice but i was hoping for a little mission inside the sphere.

You never know they might add a ton of missions later. Submit an idea.
I know that people have been asking for more background or story to the Sphere and so I believe it's going to come as you level you rep.. I was happy to get some more info and I can't wait till later tonight to get the next piece.

And all those people jumped to conclusions without giving it a few days. The story is there in doff missions, lore objects in the zones, the rep, and so on.

So far the Doff missions have been pretty interesting to me. I'm glad that there's some new traction on that system. Still needs work, but using it for lore is fun and new missions are always appreciated.
It was pretty obvious from the reactions to LoR's grind gated story content that it was the model Cryptic was sticking with for the long haul.
Disappointing, but not at all surprising.
Very disappointed. Cryptic has done some fantastic work with their Featured Episode series. It's their one real strength.
Instead Season 8, with the exception of the Worf mission, is for me, a dud. I absolutely loathe PWE/Cryptic's idea of rep grinds. And the space dinosaurs are just as ridiculous as the TRIBBLE Voyager ep they spawned from.

Unless you are able to play out a particular story, similar to "Dragon Age: Origins" and "Skyrim", the only story development you are going to get is in cut scenes. You do not have the ability to choose dialogue options, so you can manipulate or participate within character.
Outside of the dumb cut scenes, "Star Trek: Online's" endgame doesn't have a character driven storyline. Point, click, and activate a cut scene does not do anything for character development.

It may be a strength to you, but in practice, doing them exclusively for story is doomed to failure
1) No matter how good it is, we (the playerbase) suck up all new content in an hour or so and viciously demand more. They can't make more fast enough for that, and never can.
2) It makes them no money, and it takes weeks to make the series
I liked them as much as anyone, but we gotta consider their POV on things.
Plus on a side note, Season 8 just started: it's not over until Season 9 comes out, and not all new content has to be at season launch
Was named Trek17.
Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.
Ah, so passive cutscenes gated behind levels of rep.grind it's what passes as 'story content' in STO these days.
People are looking for character development through storyline participation. Outside of obtaining gear for grinding, the character doesn't obtain: a new level, skill points, titles, etc... Players are giving one passive ability, which does not require them to do anything.
Well players did complain that they had to run the mission in the Romulan rep, so now cryptic just took out the mission and just left the cutscenes , and the complaining continues.
but if Cryptic made a 5 part story mission, and gave it all to the players, they will get done in a few hours, and the complaining would continue again.

Do you want something that challenges your cognition abilities, or do you want something that makes you catatonic?

I do not call that a game.
All the game rewards are grinding tools, which are used in a similar manner as a pick axe.
Unless there is some type intellectual food to stimulate the brain, the only thing players are doing is getting on a repetitive treadmill. Nothing in "Star Trek: Online's" endgame stimulates the senses.
People are just buying slightly new pick axes, so they can carry out the same damn repetitive missions.
Hmm i dont like the sound of this i was hopeing for a mission to do as u tier up i liked them mission un the rom rep. I wont story missions like the featured series not more grind i stopped playing for 2 months cos i was sick of grinding pve missions guess im going to burn out again soon.
I guess I've been playing wrong, since I do none of that.
I recommend Single player games for you.
Regardless about what social constructs you participate in, the only way to progress the fleetbase, embassy, spire, mine, and reputation system is to get on the treadmill.
I was surprised at the cutscenes, its like with the Romulan Reputation. Was thinking it wasn't going to have one like Nukara Reputation. So I'm happy that there is a story,
But what I think everyone here is really disappointed with the story is that the first steps wasn't well presented, establishing the lore. Or being more elaborate with the first steps, really establishing why we were there other than "welcome, now go fight Voth."

This. People have done it before and they will do it again. They will complain when their story mission is over in 30 minutes.
Something tells me that this isn't the story content we were looking for.
Move along, move along.
No, in all seriousness, I've only seen the first cutsceene so far, but I think it looks like it'll at least be interesting. I know it's not like a featured episode, but it could be worse. They didn't have to put anything in there.

I assume this is the "mission" I was supposedly given when I hit rank 1 with the rep, except I didnt get any mission and there's nothing new on anyone to talk to
It was just a cutscene and there is another after rep two that builds on the first. So I think it's going to be building to something more as you reach tier V. Whether that's a mission or an unlock of voth territory or science lab I don't know. I agree it would be nice if there were a story mission but I don't mind the cutscene as it is for what is actually happening.
