Dyson space set Minor issue

captainrevo1captainrevo1 Member Posts: 3,948 Arc User
On the dyson space sets, as there is a singularity core and a warp core, with all equipped it lists it as 4/5

is it possible to set it up so only the romulans see the singularity core and only feds/kdf see the warp core so it says 4/4

not a big issue but a little untidy.

There's teensy little Problem with that: Lockbox ships with warp cores.

Two things I noticed, the Voth armor helmet and sabatons don't work well with gorn, and second, I think the new weapons from the Drozana console could use new sound fx, does anyone else think so?

Not to mention all those tier 1-4 Fed/KDF ships with warp cores the Romulans can get.

What about the space set having the graphics of the Tholian set? Or is it just bugged on me?

    This is a known issue.

As for the 4/5 set display - that's also a known issue, and one we unfortunately don't yet have the tech to solve. We keep batting around possible solutions though, and would very much like to streamline it. For now, you can just dismiss the "out of 5" concept, since you'll never be able to equip 2 warp cores, and there is no 5-piece set bonus.

Are you doing a boolean and then a count on those returns? Or is it a separate field where it's running say a 1 and adding those up? Could you therefore use a 0.5 for the Cores...and with rounding, a 1.5 would be a 2pc - 2.5 a 3pc and a 3.5 the 4pc...while if you added up all five pieces, you'd still only be at 4 for the x/4...?

I actually just learned that we may have a solution to the set bonus counting thing in the near future. So that's neat.

We're taking a closer look at the Proton weapon now, and noticed that the tooltips are listing its energy drain incorrectly: It actually only drains -5 weapon power per firing cycle.

It's probably also worth noting that this weapon has an 8-pulse firing cycle, quite unlike any other weapon. Once per 0.5sec, for 4sec, with a 1sec recharge.

Between this firing cycle, and the recharge timer, and the lower energy drain, it's entirely possible that this weapon comes out on top even in its current state.

That said, we're also considering the possibility of 'baking in' a certain amount of bonus that would usually only be available via Tactical Consoles, since there will not be any +30% Proton Dmg consoles available at the launch of S8.

It does comes out on top against a hyperrefracting tetryon beam backed by 4 +30 tac tetryon consoles. Without any proton boosted consoles. Slightly, but it does. which I think would be a artifact of the wider arc.

I'm not sure if that should be changed, since it will make the weapon useable on all kinds of builds without ruining those builds.

Would this not prevent normal Proton Damage consoles from being added later?
Also if you "bake-in" extra damage as you say, would it not give a further benefit over other weapons when using the new fleet holding tac consoles?

Eh from extensive testing I did in the adventure zone with these sets they seem to be worst gear I've ever used as far as sets go.

I definately won't be grinding for the space stuff if it launches like it currently is. Especially being that the voth spam CPB so much if say you use an escort or bop type ship with this gear that spam will leave you dead quick. It was easier to use the transphasic b'rel mode I have where I'm not using any shields vs the set. So in all I find my KHG/Maco gear to be a lot better by a long shot than this stuff which I won't grind for.

    Interesting, thanks for the information.

Personally, I am disappointed there's even a 4 piece bonus on this set. They removed the fourth piece from Borg Assimilated to bring it on par with all the other sets, and this seems to be going back on that, with them saying other sets won't be getting warp cores, that is sort of going back on that equality idea which is unfair to the older sets.

Then there's the fact that we have all this fleet gear, and while set bonuses are great and all, they do somewhat discourage mixing and matching which means less fleet gear.

It is disappointing as far as how sets have been made or changed but the more disappointing thing is that the mark requirement is extremely high and the dyson set. On top of that even the breen set is a much better set for space than the dyson one. If they leave it as is then you can bet no one will get it.

Sadly I have to agree, I did a side by side comparison of the Maco Sheild, Nakura Sheild and the Dyson Shield and well it goes down hill in shield hit points in the above order.

As for the Breen space set, I still use it on my Reman engineer in Elite STF's successfully and I will probably continue using it till I get his Omega rep finished off which I have put off till the rep tokens are live on Holodeck.

If you want to test all of the voth equipment, download the beta testing "tribble" and you can equip your ships with all of the latest space sets and ground sets. Nice to see all of the weapons, modifiers and appearance...
I have to agree with everyone about the dyson space set, but man, that regen rate is amazing...

Once you download the Tribble beta, go to Drozana station, there is a console in the main chamber pot against the back wall where you can obtain every piece of Dyson equipment for testing.
