Tribble Testing Weekend Reward suggestions

As we move closer to the launch of Season 8 and the Tribble Test Weekend I have a couple of suggestions on the reward structure of the TTWs. Currently the reward is handed out usually to players who have been on Tribble from Friday to Monday for 1 hour to get the rewards of testing that content. Under the current reward structure a player can just login for 1 hour to earn the reward. The downside is that a player can login go afk or just talk in chat and get the same reward as someone who spends hours and hours of extensively testing the new content. During Legacy of Romulus expansion testing, the reward was handed out to everyone whether they participated in the testing weekend or not. There are a lot of great testers out there and they spend a great amount of time and effort into testing the upcoming content and give important feedback on the forums from testing.
During the Season 5 testing the rewards were handed out differently. Rewards during Season 5 were based on a leveling up a new character as follows: get a new character to level 6 earned a tribble or level up once for a transferred character, XP boost at Level 11, 80,000 Dilthium crate at level 31 and level 51 earned a ship slot and title (Path to F2PDev blog #17). At the time Star Trek Online was going through the transition of a subscription based game to a free to play game and that build was the free to play build, however, the reward structure was not just rewarding players for spending one hour on Tribble but, rewarded players for leveling up a character and actually testing the new content. I would like to suggest that in addition to everyone getting the tribble from being on the server for 1 hour of testing the upcoming season or expansion, additional rewards are handed out for those that actually test the content similar to how Season 5 rewards were. For example, in Season 8: The Sphere, players who spend the one hour on the test server earn the tribble but, offer additional exclusive reward to those players that archive tier 5 in the Dyson Commendation Reputation earn like a onetime dilithium create or mark crate, extra slot, or even a small 30 Dyson Mark Create to assist players in leveling up the Reputation holding faster when the season goes live. Other Rewards can be offered for spending time in the Battlezone, contributing the new fleet holdings etc. As Dilithium is a time-based currency, it is an excellent time where players who spend time to test the content get rewarded with dilithium. By rewarding players based on what is tested and the time that is tested in the upcoming season content; this has the following benefits:

-Encourages more players to test the actual content
-Fairly rewards those who do extensive testing
-Discourages players from going afk or avoiding the actual testing during the period
-More data is collected and feedback given

Simply put, if exclusive rewards were granted to players who test the actual content more players may be willing to spend more time during the testing period. As more players spend time testing, more backend data is given, important feedback to testing and bug reports filed. It will be a win-win for everyone in ensuring the new upcoming content is thoroughly tested and less problems at launch. I look forward to the testing weekend of the upcoming season :)

    I'm calling it now.
    All our suggestions aside.
    We're going to get a

    Dyson Tribble
Once per hour you can pet it for 1 Dyson Joint Command Mark.
Probably some small buff as well.

If the last 3 are of any indication, that is exactly what we will see. MAYBE a doff as well, but I doubt that

Great suggestions there John. Unfortunately, history has proven that Cryptic aren't very rewarding to potential "testers", and the previous 3 major updates have been extremely lackluster.

While I am all for Rewards for Testing things, I would leave the Rep system out of it. The simple fact is that You really can't get much further then Tier 1 over the course of the weekend. The hard lock from the Dyson Joint Command Commendations makes getting to tier 5 impossible unless you have already been on Tribble and either advanced some, or saved up a nice cache of Dyson Marks.

Running Battlezone, Storming the Spire, The Breach, etc. Sure go for it. But remember that any reward you give out at this point, must really be doable in the time frame given.

While I do like the idea of better rewards, giving it to people for pretty much playing all the content isn't a great idea. Reason? Gecko said in a podcast that it always costs in potential sales having these test weekends etc where people get to play the content. The reason is they play the content then don't play it when it's out. This isn't a direct loss of sales but it means they're not getting dilithium and feeding the actual money making side of the business etc.

What I would prefer is not another blooming tribble. Give us something fun to use in and around the social zones or something. Like a holo emitter of a mech dinosaur or how's about a Voth boff? Maybe we could get some levelless weapons for boffs only, then bring out an armour and shield but all with special boff modifiers.

Come on let's get creative in designing better test rewards than a tribble you will just toss in the bank next to the collection.

It is through repetition that we learn our weakness.
A master with a stone is better than a novice with a sword.

Has damage got out of control?
This is the last thing I will post.

No confirmation there is one yet. It would be the weekend before the 12th of November if there is one though.

This. I really despise tribbles at this point, they take up way to much bank/inventory space. We really need a separate storage system for tribbles and vanity pets.

10 bucks says your spot on.. Kind of obvious after the last 4 tribbles....

It will either be a Tribble that coughs up a Dyson Mark, or maybe, just maybe we might get a Tribble that gives +damage against Voth?

Either way, we need a blasted Tribble Tank. Seems like my inventory is almost all tribbles these days. Cryptic has long ignored this issue.

Actually, given the accelerated project times on tribble, you can make T5 in a day without much of a problem.

Since most of us have way too many tribbles as it is and no space to put them. Why not give us one doff with the new trait.

As far as the f2p s5 rewards being different, I think they missed that boat with lor when players had to level up a toon from scratch. The problem now is that you can transfer toons over and over making the test environment harder to determine. I have a feeling they wont be doing that again.

If it is a tribble, all I can ask is I hope I can put it on my bridge officer. I don't want a tribble in my inventory.

If I cannot put it on a boff, it is useless to me. I never claimed the Fleet, Romulan or Nukara tribbles for that very reason.... :(
