Dyson Spire warp cores coming with innate drain resists

So on these they took out the 130 cap increases from the regular or dil mine ones and added power drain resistance as an extra? If this "resistance rate" basically adds to power insulators then this warp core is another instance of "devs hates sci". Given the massive drain resistance power insulators gives with no easy debuff for them, why would they create these? On another note, these warp cores just seem add to the power creep on all fronts. I'm curious on how the regeneration rate part works.

Could you also share information on the new Elite Fleet Singularity Cores?

Sadly the repository page I found said image on had nothing in regards to the singularity cores.

Edit: Compilation page is here for those interested in what's been dug up so far by this person(s).

According to the wording it would also increase weapon drain resistance. Nice.

    Thanks for the link.

I dunno, could be just a resistance bonus against drainpowers like tykens rift or the polaron proc, effectively a bonus to power insulators?

I think its a reduction of the power loss when firing energy weapons.

Marion for everybody, without needing the DOFF or DEM

Yep, it's more of a passive owa/weapon efficency command. They might as well remove energy drain from weapons altogether...getting a tad convoluted

That was my interpretation as well, though the nomenclature is different (resist % versus resist ratings on current gear). Hopefully Gorn will drop in and do a little explaining.

What I wouldn't give for tooltips that actually tell you what an effect really is...

I hope there are purple versions of the Protonic Polaron space weapons, if not I will be disappointed.

The "+66% increase to base regeneration rate" probably doesn't affect the return of weapons power when you stop firing energy weapons. Also, until a dev comments or someone posts test results, I wouldn't be so sure that the "+10% increase to base resistance rate" affects the drain from firing energy weapons. These stats are also stated as a percentage of a base value; we don't know what the actual magnitude of the effects are.

Given cryptic's awesome math skills, assume:

    1/(1+%)

Yes, I do hate Cryptics definition of math.

Even if that were the case, we still don't know the base values and hence don't know the final magnitudes. We also don't know how the new warp cores stack with skills like power insulators and "Starship Electro-Plasma Systems" and how they stack with other effects like the new cruiser command "Weapon System Efficiency".

Is this drain from energy siphon or drain from use? If this is drain from use then beam boats are going to be even more powerfull with the new commands and this core. This would also make escorts and sci ships hit harder when weapons fire at 125 weapon power 100% of the time or close to that.

If this is drain from other sources like energy siphon or tachyon beam are they adding a new uber powerfull drain ability that stacks with all others for PvP? Or is there a borg tachyon beam beam followed by 20k+ non crit torp or 50k crit torp type attack in a Voth flavor that is quite nasty unless you spec into power insulators and even these cores with being speced is needed?

I am going to assume it affects drain from use like most everyone else, Marion for an 8 second resistence to drain and requiring DEM sells for 20+ million (bought mine for 20 current was 35 or so when i looked earlier today) and many beam boat captains complaining about drain and many I assume noob escort captains thinking Marion makes an Aux2bat OP. Plus there is the whole Aux2bat build with or without Marion to negate the massive weapons drain from beams, Is this a way to reduce the crying of noobs who do not understand the build by making Aux2bat builds a thing of the past? Then is this to quite the complaints of beam power drain making them useless in the DPS race unless the captain gets creative and manages to overcap power massively? I think it is a combination of all those, Kill Aux2bat to make noobs happy and make Aux2bat captains happy in 2 fell strokes. 1 being cruiser commands, the other being the new cores.

Next common complaint is this is "Cruisers Online"... S9 will be more cruiser and S10 will make Sci OP(yes i am joking).

I'm still waiting for a meme that uses STO or Cryptic as a verb to describe something that lacks even the most fundamental understanding of balance.

When opening the free boxs you get doing the rep projects you will often get blue weapons, all of the versions in the rep store that unlock are purple though.

Could a dev please clarify how these drain bonuses function to end all this speculation? (borticus?)

Even if I am necroing the thread... has anybody found out something about the mechanics of these cores so far? We did some test runs on tribble with them and could see absolutly no difference in weapons energy drain or regeneration so far. So it does not seem to be a free Marion. But we have no idea what those cores are doing else...
