Okay so I was in an STF with my Mirror Vo'quv, and usually I do the most or 2nd in pugs, but this guy in a HEC blows up the damage meters 29k on the final cube. I parsed his data and he was only running romulan turrets, cutter, and DHCs, no torps (other than Elite Scorps)

Anybody know what kind of build he was running to do that? -threat consoles? I never lost threat even though he did twice as much dps as me.

Was my meter broken? I clocked the Elite Scorps at 14k by themselves. (on my JHDC my scorps only average about 3k a rack)

anyway, this guys name was Segal, didn't catch the @handle.

I have never seen an escort do that much in a pug (I usually get the sci ships doing 900dps)

If anyone has any links on builds like this please post them. I am curious to see how it works.

Thanks!

Your damage up significantly as well? I imagine he was using either multiple APBs, or APB3 plus stuff to trim the cooldown. All that plasma damage, plus the Armitage can run a single aux2bat plus DEM-Marion, all of it chewing on dramatically weakened hull. Maybe fleetmates stacking APB as well to make it even worse? No doubt the pilot was very good, but mechanically that approach would be my guess.

Sounds like one of these builds, but with cannons.
My Romulan Liberated Borg character made it to Level 30 and beat the (old) Defense of New Romulus with the skill point bug. :D

I run beta on my carrier, so he didn't need it, though my dps was about the same as it usually is. *shrug*

I was in a couple CE missions during the "catastrophe" where the whole mission lasted less than two minutes. Barely enough time to full impulse to the CE, pop my attack buffs and it's absorbing. A few seconds after the first absorb cycle and the CE is absorbing again. A few seconds after that and it's dead. And by a few seconds I mean 7-10, not 30. I even saved the combat log the second time that happened but didn't see any crazy high numbers, so I don't know. I'd be interested in hearing some of the uber dps secrets as well.

So basically Rom Boffs, Marion+DEM, BFaW+AP:B cycling, and EPtW cycling (and a crapload of fleet/rep gear)? I guess beam weapon power overcapping is the way to go.

Except the guy in the OP was driving an Armitage with cannons. So no Rom Boffs (unless using the inferior Embassy ones), no FAW, and less use of overcapping. Thats what makes it intriguing.

This is not actually unusual at all. He did not sustain this damage, so it was probably just stacked Tac buffs. Tacs can easily hit very high bursts over a period of about 30 seconds with GDF+APA+FOMM+TacFleet, especially when you are helping with additional debuffing. Values of 60K+ DPS are not actually uncommon over such short durations.

*rereads the OP* D'oh. 29k spike, not sustained. You are correct, much easier to do.

If you were parsing the encounter, you should have your answer to his build in your parse. Just rebuild his ship on http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/skillplanner/

    Nothing to it.

    That's pretty much it.

Even with otherwise crappy gear and a non-perfect setup you can reach enormous numbers in certain, short fights, given the right circumstances. The right timing on the point-defense console during the carrier fight in CSE can amount to 8k+ dps for that encounter alone for example.

It's easy to get spikes in DPS; sustaining it is much harder, but not impossible.

There are numerous attainable builds that can generate it, no special ships required. Throw a special ship in the mix, and it's much easier.
