Posting in this subforum since i figured KDF runs more torpedo ships then the other factions.
Anyways i have a Sci Karfi that for whatever reason i fitted out with 4 torpedo launchers up front. Hargh'Peng, Quantum, TCB, and Transphasic cluster torpedo.
1) first question is pretty simple, can you use more then 1 Transphasic cluster launcher? or will their cooldowns conflict with each other?
2) is there a known bug with manually launched torpedoes getting overridden by launchers set to autofire? this is what i mean, and this did actually happen to me:
-all launchers set to autofire except transphasic
-activate T:HY
-select target
-manually click quantum
-high yield TCB launches instead
So is this a known glitch with the launchers and/or the GCD system in game? Another one that happens is transphasic cluster will be set to manual launch but when i try to click it to launch the GCD just recycles but nothing out of that launcher. A lot of times i have to hit the button repeatedly. And it isnt always a case of one of the other 3 launchers doing their firing cycle. TCB has a long CD, Hargh has like 15 second i think? quantum is the only one with a short CD, but i'm watching all the timers and trying to manually launch the transphasic happens when all the launchers still have 2+ seconds left on CD.
Yes you can have multiple Transphasic Cluster Torpedo and when one fires others get a cooldown I think a 15sec cooldown cant remember how long exactly. This is so that someone can't do massive damage in a very short amount of time.
When I use the Transphasic Cluster Torpedo I don't have it set on Autofire because their is a bug that sometimes it does not fire the Torpedo but does start the cooldown. When firing manually I don't have problems.
Romulan Hyper Plasma Torps have a problem with a ship I have Omega Plasma Torpedo forward and Romulan Hyper Plasma aft with both set on Autofire and sometimes the Romulan Hyper Plasma torpedoes don't fire but start their cooldown.
ahh cool, ty for the info about the transphasics. They do have good burst damage, and i like to use a GW to gather a bunch of mobs up and shoot a transphasic cluster torp at them and watch my combat text go crazy.
That reminds me too since you mentioned romulan torpedoes. I was doing some STFs and i noticed several ships shooting streams of plasma torpedoes. One was a fed cruiser looking ship, another was i think a rommy. What exactly was that i was seeing? a unique launcher, console of some sort, doff/boff CD? or a combination things?
Weapons Projectile Officer can lower the cooldown on Torpedoes so someone with 3 of them active wile using Romulan Hyper Plasma Torpedoes can fire a big stream of them.
I saw 3 torpedoes regularly and looking at the description of that item looks like that was it. I cant recall seeing a longer stream then that. The spacing on the torpedoes was too uniformed so i thought that i couldnt be the doffs, thought i thought i would ask since my torpedo doffs are really low quality.
Wellll, there was a time when B'rel's were pretty nice as torp boats. Way overshadowed by T'varo in that regard, now. Other than that, yeah, it's also a sci ship deal, and KDF doesn't have too many of those.
But with higher quality doffs you can definitely cut the recharge time for the cluster torps in half, with a decent setup. I got a transphasic torp build that spews regular torps every 1 or 2 seconds and a cluster torp every 20-25 seconds, plus buffed transphasic mines every 15 secs. (hint: transphasic tac consoles and Breen 2-piece stack)
Autofire is a sequenced system so the order you turned autofire on effects which torpedo fires first.
Firing the Torpedo may start the firing sequence which in turn fires the first Torpedo picked. Make sure the Quantum is the first torpedo on Autofire.
I was once DKnight1000, apparently I had taken my own name so now I'm DKnight0001. If I ask you a question it is not an insult but a genuine attempt to understand why. When I insult you I won't be discreet about it, I will be precise and to the point stupid.

That's the Romulan Heavy Plasma Torp launcher - you get it through the New Romulus reputation. It fires 3 heavy plasma torps, and it is affected by the doffs - so you can get pretty silly-looking strings of green balls with it.
Really? KDF? Every Torp Boat I can think Ive ever come across is a fed ship.
Aah, no, check this thread out:) http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=258010&highlight=Advice+weapons+B%27rel
Old, but gold, started by none other than me:) The T5 B'Rel have a greater potential for torpedo boating than any other ship due to the enhanced battle cloak. It was a long while since I played KDF now, but if I'd go back it would be for my old torpedo boat:)
A contract is a contract...(but only between Ferengi).
Here is my bomber build for the T'Varo, It should play almost the same with a B'Rel or any ship for that matter.
Due to the amounts of splash and just general AE, I rarely do the fire while cloaked trick.
Basic strategy is run in with slow torps then spin around and go out hitting the target with the fast torps, the result is the fast torps, (Quantums) smash the shield and the slow plasma's decimate the hull.
Slow torps in the front, fast torps in the rear. Its a balancing act, but very lethal, I can easily kite cubes with this build in Vortex. Two copies of omega, omega 1 is for attack runs, omega 3 is to get away from tractor.
I find by using different torp types, you avoid the messy global cooldown of using two of the same. (though some have a very small global and thats fine)
Also I do not use autofire, I queue them up using a macro.

Your Ramming Speed III deals 242658 (243540) Kinetic Damage (Critical) to you.

The B'Rel retrofit Bird of Prey and the Fleet B'rel (T5 Fleet) were born to be torp boats.
Enhanced Battle Cloak is why.
You need to get out more.
