So I have the retrofit and love the ship but I just want some feedback on the fleet ambassador before i pick one up. How does it compare to other fleet cruisers from a T1-T3 range.
The fleet ambassador is a solid choice, but give the fleet excelsior a real look. It costs one more FSM but depending on your play style you may find it more to your liking.
The Ambassador class is quite the amazing ship. It's close sibling the fleet excelsior, is also similar but on a slightly different side of the spectrum. Both are my favorites.
The ambassador has a good turnrate and makes a fantastic support vessel (in my opinion she is quite beautiful if not gorgeous .
If you're bold, you can even make her a science heavy Cruiser, because of its universal Lt.
Here's my approach on it. LINK
"...'With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured...the first thought forbidden...the first freedom denied--chains us all irrevocably.' ... The first time any man's freedom is trodden on, we're all damaged. I fear that today--"
- (TNG) Picard, quoting Judge Aaron Satie
I have both of these ships and I enjoy the hell out of them. The Exclesior is my first choice because of the number of tactical slots it has compared to the Ambassdor. It all depends on your fighting style when it comes to deciding what ship is best for you.
Grendel the Wise
USS CONSTANT SORROW (NX-971971) Fleet Ambassdor Class
USS ATTILA KHAN (NX-921911) Fleet Excelsior Class
Fleet Admiral of the U.S.S. ATTILA KHAN-CDA (NX-921911).
One thing often overlooked is that the Fleet Support Cruiser has the most hull of any Fed ship except for the Galaxy (only 550 base HP difference) while still keeping the turn-rate and inertia of a medium cruiser.
Fleet Excel - tankier cruiser, throw in one Romulan embassy Boff, if you have access, to make up the dps boff loss.
Fleet Ambassador - A bit more sci offering, good cruiser overall.
Fleet Sovy - Does what it's designed for. very tactical oriented. Mine melts everything w/o much of a sweat.
You wont go wrong with a well setup Fleet Ambassador. I run A2B on em all, to noice effect. The Fleet Ambassador gives you the option (my usual choice,) of a Grav Well, something cruisers usually don't run, as a good CC option, for places like Cure Space Elite, and other such scenarios, where a CC is effective.
I love my Fleet Ambassador. Have it set up with both Borg sets and the Galor's Spiral Wave Disruptors. I have no problem taking on cubes solo and coming out on top with mild to no damage to it.
The Fleet Ambassador is a great ship. It's the one I fly on main character. I would recommend it. I wish it has Lt.Com universal though.
