The Kinetic Cutting Beam and Assimilated Console you can't get from missions. Those are Reputation gear, you'll need to build up Omega Marks to get them, along with EC to buy the items needed to help raise your rep level.

I just hit 50 with my Eng also and its truly a monstrosity on the ground.

If you are in a fleet bravo! your lie is going to be a little easier.

Step one pray you have T3 embassy
Step two get a Embassy Mk XII purple fabrication specialist.
Step three gain tons of EC to buy a Fabrication doff (for chance of three support drones)
Step four Armory officer (for chance to call in 2 extra turrets)
Step five Explosives expert (for chance to call in 2 extra mortars)
Step six ensure all three doffs are purple, and only one of each as they do not stack.
    Good starting points.

    Moving on.

Best place to get lots of Nukara marks (enough per trip for 2-3 days of rep use) Nukara prime, go to base camp collect missions and run them. Very easy take you 15 - 30 minutes depending on speed you work it.

Best way to get Romulan is Epohh tagging now that Epohh lady is back. In between as you are an Eng with super turrets, defend rhi'ihho station.

Best way for omega is just grindstone the borg Stfs.

Make sure for ground you are specced into turrets and drones.

Omega gear I.E. M.A.C.O. AND OMEGA specifically.

Nukara rep gear is good for those ground missions plus the EV suits look cooler.

As per STO usual you want a ship you enjoy for your playstyle. Feel free to come up with a build and post it using the sto academy skill planner. And the helpful forum can help you with that too.

I think thats roundabout it until you get into the reps. I would rerun the missions for the Jem hedar shields, engines and deflector, until you can pick up Fleet shields and deflectors. Then either the borg engines or the nukara ones (both from rep).

Points into ground skills should be chosen carefully. In most cases you dont get any noticeable benefit from anything more than 3 ticks, if at all. There is also no need for mk xii fleet consoles. Mk xi fleet consoles are 90-95% as good for half of the cost.

I rolled in my assualt cruiser most of the way through the omega grind so take your time and experiment. There is a decent selection of mirror ships on the exchange that are good for experimenting with different playstyles. You can tank rather well in engineer heavy escorts as well, so you can even play with those.

My biggest thing is to buff your ships strengths, not its weaknesses. I.E.forget about buffing turnrate on the cruisers, you sacrifice too many console slots for too little benefit.

The bolded part is pretty subjective. I have Fleet MkXII Neautroniums with the +Turn and i have really good flat out resists and my Assault cruiser turns like a wet dream.

So start with a good solid idea in mind. and if you want to spend a ton (like i did with my tac) to figure out works best go for it, i had a lot of fun trying out different styles and ships with my tac. But i know my Eng will be a real boss.

I'll be honest fly what you want be it for looks or Boff seating. I know an Eng in my fleet that does dirty things with one of those, and i hear a fleet one will be coming soon. So theres a plus for that.

If you can save up your monthly stipends from being a subscriber and once you have enough zen try out some of the other boss ships. Odd 3 pack is nice and i also like the Assault cruiser retrofit.

Check out the playable starship section of the STO WIKI you will see a lot of helpful information on boff seating, consoles spots HP, and the like.

Its not subjective, its simple math. Just compare the stats between the fleet mk xi and the fleet mk xii pieces. There is no reason to not get the mk xii consoles if you have the fleet credits burning a whole in your pocket, but it is hardly a must to get mk xii over mk xi.

The fleet excelsior is indeed awesome. It turns good enough for DBBs up front, works well with single cannons and turrets, with A2Bat makes a great APB FAW beam boat, has a lot of hull strength, and it has a really good inertia so it accelerates quickly. Loads of fun.
