This is my present build. I use it for STF's and am quite happy with performance. Having completed all tiers of the reputation process I have been considering throwing in a Nukera and Rommie beam to utilize the Zero Point and Partical Convertor consoles and activate the two set 'powers' for them. This would mean sacrificing two of my fleet beam arrays, which I have the tac slots set for.

Is it a worth while thing to consider? I am aware the Rommie beam doesn't use power so... that means more power to the other beams right? lol

Obviously I am SURE others have tried this in the past so rather than waste the resources I would much prefer to hear opinions from the older players who have been there and done that.

I am also curious to hear peoples thoughts on me using the Point Defense console. The theory behind it is sound in my book, my tac consoles are set for Phaser so logically I am better off using that rather than the Leech console presently resting in another ship lol

Anyway have a look, opinions and advice are appreciated. Obviously upgading the TAC consoles will maximize damage but I am certainly not paying 30mil per console so close to Season 8 and the Fleet Tac ones.

    3 technicians, 1 marion, 1 w/e you like

Don't add the Nukara dbb, you ship is about broad siding. The dbb won't get a chance.

I optimized your build, it will be much more lethal this way. Any questions?

Been eyeing off Marion, damn expensive but looks to be a keeper so a good investment.

I am planning on switching to Plasma after we know a little about the Voth. Outlaying the cost for this set up without actually knowing much about Season 8 seems a little premature. What if the Voth are immune to Plasma? All those funds down the drain. Do we have any specs for Voth yet? I may have missed it.

For the moment I plan on keeping the Phaser power base but I am stocking up on marks and dil for Season 8 so this is definitely a feasible option come that time.

No NPCs ships have ever had resistance to a particular energy type, this includes the borg.

People have been fighting the Voth on tribble and they say it's "protonic plasma..."

    I have no other info.

Marion is amazing, totally worth the investment. Anyone that says otherwise either doesn't own marion or does not understand game mechanics

Or they think that turning off an important game mechanic via P2W is a form of twinking and power creep, unsportsmanlike, want something other than the standard cookie-cutter build, or just plain makes the missions end too quickly to be any fun. There are lots of possible reasons besides 'doesn't understand game mechanics.'

Marion is great, but endgame Engineers specced properly do not even need him with a 7 beam setup and can still run DEM (yes, I own Marion and no longer use him). He is more important for Escort BO Alphas than for beamboats.

He didn't say "anyone who isn't using Marion doesn't understand", only that the doff is worth the investment. Whether you think the doff is twinkish, 'unsportsmanlike' or just plain cheating/boring is a completely different argument. ;)

Oh I agree that is my own personal thing. But the specific quote was

"Anyone that says otherwise either doesn't own marion or does not understand game mechanics"

To which I was saying "there are plenty of people who understand mechanics just fine but might say no anyways" and offering potential reasons. Game gets real boring real fast when the 'solution' to everything is the same expensive cookie-cutter build over and over and over again.

Out of context. The sentence before that states that Marion is "worth the investment". So what you've quoted is saying that anyone who says Marion is *not* "worth the investment" must not understand game mechanics.

IOW, he didn't call *you* stupid. Just whoever says Marion isn't worth buying. :)

    Completely agree with this, actually.
