Hey Branflakes...
Could we at some point in the future have a foundry challenge with the objective of building an arena style map for pvp? (Ground and or Space)
Then in a similar fashion to the current contests... we publish X mission.. let people choose their favorite map... then whatever wins then goes to cryptic for editing (PVP spawn points(Red/Blue), Hazards, Pvp intro/exit Dialog etc..)
Then you devs do your magic... and boom... we have a new pvp map to kill each other on.
Thank you for the Typhoon!

Is there already another thread regarding this? I didn't think to look before I made this one.
Aye, I love making maps in the foundry.
+1
I like it.
It would allow PvP maps to be created without creating additional work for environment artists and would only require map the map to be set up as a PvP and spawn points to be added.
Not to mention anything that adds to the utility of the foundry to support and enhance the wider game is a great idea and can only benefit STO as a whole.
Having a map rotation for assult would be such a nice change!
Got my vote foundry guys!
The object would be capture the flag. IE get to the enemy base and interact with a console to upload a virus into their mainframe. Or steal data.... something like that.
In between the two bases would be a labyrinth of interconnected halls and rooms, but with doors that close whenever no one is near them. hehehe...

Switch the mainframe consoles around in shanty town and you have a "Capture the Flag" for the ground.
I read awhile back they were setting up a tournament that would take place across the STO in a form of colored territorial control. If we could get some more maps out for pvp they boot camp trainers could use them in that tournament. In addition it'll add more variety to the pvp games.
In fact, if it gets cryptic s support could be a new branch of the boot camp. Instead of getting the "PVP Boot Camp Coach or Graduate" foundry winners could get a tag along the lines of... "PVP Surveyor"
While it won't solve the problem with the P2W consoles and so on, it would be a thumbs up from cryptic to both the foundry and pvp communities.
The original AvP games were the best.
The main difference with my idea was that, unlike Shanty Town, there would be no open air. The AvP games had very little of it in the PvP maps as a balancing thing. Aliens had no guns, and were stuck using melee only. Most of the maps had secret passages the other races couldn't get to thus letting the Aliens sneak up on the others. That and the maps had a semi-claustrophobic feel in general.
I could probably add a few passageways only Caitians/Ferasans and Engineers(by climbing on cover shield) can use. Hmm... to reduce the effectiveness of the minimap, the halls could be setup on different altitudes so that players always have to wonder what height the enemy is at.
