If a Borg shoot you with a long tentacle, you are infected with Borg nanites. You'll have a gfx similar to Health Monitor Nanaites but a different color. If your Health drops below 25%, you become assimilated and an NPC under control of the game.
Vascular regenerator clears most assimilation attacks (doesnt clear the Tactical Gorn assimilation plasma ball attack). Nanite health monitor and [nanite] elite fleet armour procs will usually clear assimilation nanites when their trigger conditions are met.
There's an overwatch boosting doff that "clears all debuffs". It will remove the toxic damage dot but leave part of the assimilation debuff on you. You'll become a borg when you hit the health trigger, but it removes the immediate danger of rapid health drain.
If you don't have any of that then use an adrenaline injection while wearing the full Jem ground set, then go and find someplace safe to stand and wait out the timer.

Please don't do that in a ground-STF. Those STFs take long enough and if you are waiting 5 minutes for those Nanites to dissapear, people might get angry.

If Star Trek Online was an Open-Source (GPL) Game, we would have a low-grind fork.
