Can't Buy Fleet Ships

Why are ships tied to whether or not one has access to fleet stores?

I tried to buy a ship tonight and got the error message that I don't have permission.

Aside from the fact that my fleet is bad for not allowing someone with hundreds of thousands of credits worth of contributions to have access, I can't figure out why ships would be linked to that. Any input?

You can't see why they are tied.

    I can't see why they wouldn't be.

Fleet ships are an integral part of the rewards of participating specifically to encourage players to contribute in fleets, helping both cryptic (who must justify putting effort into the system) and fleet members who already contribute.

If they weren't tied, there would be innumerable fleets which did nothing but act as ship sources; the members would never participate beyond supplying their stores of ships.

Have you asked for Access to the Fleet Stores yet? If so what did they say? If they still won't let you get a ship after all that.. jump ship now before they eek more precious resources out of you. Infact I'd even get you an invite to the fleet I'm in and you can get stuff from 100K (1 item then another at 200k then full access at 300K. You would need to use TS3 though but least you could get a ship

The fleet shipyard is a provisioned fleet store, so yes, it is tied to that permission setting.
