Unlocked MK12 Romulan Plasma Beams. What mod?

These things are 25k dil each so before I bankrupt myself I was wondering, what is the best mod? They have plasma fires and disruptor resist debuffs baked in, so that leaves two damage mods. I was thinking [acc]x2 might be good as it would help with applying the disruptor proc, but the [acc] [CritH] looked good too. There were also ones with crit severity instead of crit chance. Some had [dmg] but I can rule those ones out already due to the public scorn against them. Which is best?

    PvE or PvP goals?

    Can't go wrong with [Acc]x2 as the excess spills over into Crit severity, but that doesn't mean much unless you land critical hits. That can be helped through the Assimilated Module and Zero-Point Console additions to boost the base Crit chance up a notch - as well as skill in the specific Weapon Proficiency which also helps. If your Romulan, your Rom BOFFs can also have skills that boost Crit Chance and Severiety. Outside that if your Tac, just go with it anyway as your Atk Ptrn Alpha increases Crit chance when you want it to cause damage, and it turns it into some awesome goodness.

    However, if you wish to be sure - the [Acc] [CrtH] is also good, though more in PvE than PvP as the accuracy required to land hits on NPC is more forgiving than your fellow starship captains.


    The rest is pretty much moot in terms of specific procs you want. In general;

    [Acc]x3 > [Acc]x2 > [Acc] > everything else
    If you have that, [Acc] > [CrtH] > [CritD] > [Dam] for damage goals. Th reason is a missed hit means nothing compared to one that lands - and the Acc spills over into Crit Severiety (or CritD basically) to multiply Critical Damage. Critical Hits are awesome on the terms of actually causing those hits, but again you want them to land first, so Acc is better. CritD multiplies the damage by how the maths add the Critical Severiety up before multiplying damage - resulting in more damage added than the basic Dam proc would ever do.

    However not all nifty sets like that comes together that way. Those that do, the [Acc] [CrtH] are ggreat for PvE, and [Acc]x2 for PvP.

    Beams? PVE only? With a Nukara Console. [CrtH]x2.

    The Nukara Console provides the single Acc buff you need.

    Beams? PVE and maybe a little PVP, With a Nukara Console, [Acc] [CrtH]

    Cannons, PVE only? [Acc] [CrtH]

    PVP mainly, [Acc]x2.

    try out some cheap weapons with no Acc to see if you need an Acc mod. Generally 6 Ranks in the skill and a single Acc mod is overkill for PVE.

    As much Acc as possible for PVP.
