Too Many Consoles, Not Enough Slots

As the title states, I have too many consoles and not enough slots.
Ship: Armitage HEC (non-fleet, shipyard too low)
Weapons: Fleet Advanced Antiproton DHC x3, Omega Torpedo;
Sets: 2 piece MACO set w/ Adapted MACO Engines, Omega Adapted Technology (omega torp & etc.)
Fleet Advanced Antiproton Turrets x2, KCB
Tac: Antiproton Mag x4
Engi: Enhanced Neutronium +HullRep, Enhanced Neutronium +HullHP, Torpedo Point Defense
Sci: Assimilated Module, Shield Emitter Amplifier
Now, I'm thinking about getting the Romulan console and eventually get the nakura and fleet HEC, and what should I take out?
Help is greatly appreciated.

Probably either the Shield Emitter Amplifier or the Torpedo Point Defense for the Romulan console. I wouldn't bother with the Nukara console since you have no beams that benefit from the accuracy bonus.

The Nukara Console is much better for beam boats than escorts.

The Shield Amplifier isn't helping your damage, the Zero Point will. I think the answer is clear.

    Equip ALL the consoles!

No seriously, it adds a lot of build variability, and you need to learn to make compromises. Ships that run an abundance of universals tend to perform badly. Tacticals are usually a no brainer. Do you need the Borg tractor? If not you can remove the Assimilated. The Romulan console isn't needed for non-plasma builds, and the Nukara console is for beamboats. Not sure about the torp defence either.

I started getting rid of my defensive consoles on my escorts in PVE in favor of more offensive universals and I haven't noticed a drop in survivability, while my dmg went up. In PvE, most opponents get blown to bits, before they're able to do much damage themselves anyways and for those that I need to tank (gates, tac cubes, cubes...), my Boff skills have sufficed so far.

I'd get rid of the Shield Emitter Amplifier (if anything you might want to look for a Field Generator instead) and then bank the armour consoles one after the other, until you get a survivability you're comfortable with.

The Assimilated Module is no longer part of the Borg Deflector/Engine/Shield set. It is part of the Weapons set including the Console, the KCB & the Omega Torp.

    It has it's own 2 & 3 piece bonuses.

Your information is long out of date for the Borg, but your dead right on the Nukara & Zero Point consoles.

This is why a lot of players (myself included) are trying to convince Cryptic to move a number of Console abilities over to Devices. The Device slots are underutilized as-is, being primarily just for batteries.

The best way to do it would be to turn Active Abilities (cloaking device, subspace jump, point defense, etc.) into Devices, and have Passive Abilities (plasmonic leech, all current non-universal consoles) be Consoles. The difference between Active and Passive should also be the difference between Device and Console.

After that, up each ship's Device Slot by 1. That way, Escorts (like the Andorian escort) can enjoy 3-piece bonuses, while Cruisers, with their 5 slots, can have more tricks up their sleeves than other ships. It's a great way to give Cruisers extra utility over Escorts, while also allowing players to have more fun abilities at their disposal.

+1 for this. We can only hope :)
Hi. Apparently I'm new here and joined in Jun 2012. Guess I'm in good company though... seems everyone else joined then too!

ONly point defense consoles should be devices. Instead of making consoles devices (there are far too many devices to choose from already) we need a specific UNIVERSAL console slot IN ADDITION to all pre-existing console slots. Like a 4th category added to all tier 5 ships. It should give you 2 slots for universal consoles (ONLY universal consoles).

Okay, thanks, I guess the thing I'm wondering the most is if the point defense is worth it or not. It certainly looks very impressive and destroys all projectiles within my proximity, and very good against Borg as well. But is there something better?

I like the point defense console a lot more on my Fighter than on my starship. As far as I know, it's not very useful if you aren't fighting a lot of small ships/shuttles.

Re: Point defense: It really depends... Its main use is against high yield plasma torps, i.e. super crit borg torps that can 1-shot you. Most times you can see these coming and brace for impact (which negates a lot of it) or shoot it down, or flee until you can shoot it, or something. The point defense console is kind of cool to have and works as advertised, but it takes up a full console slot (which is annoying) and also will aggro everything in 360 degrees around you that it hits. I found it most useful against swarms of fighters, myself. That hardly justifies its place on my ship instead of a better universal console.

I ended up running it for a while then putting on magnetometric generator instead. Much more useful as far as consoles go.

Plasmonic Leech, Assimilated, Romulan, Nukara (if you use beams) and Tachyokinentic, then Embassy consoles, in that order.

I think any console that comes standard with a ship should have the flexibility to be used in the device slots. This would go for DTS, point defense, cloaking, ablative armor, ect.

all other universal consoles can remain tied to normal slots.
