A beautiful and fitting memorial

Cryptic / PWE. The memorial to Mark Valentine at SFA is just beautiful. The inscription is just so perfect in so many many ways, and no I am not afraid to admit this either. It made me cry.

Thank you thank you thank you for such a wonderful memorial and tribute.

    Hi,

I tried to find it last night but could not. Where is it? The release notes didn't mention where on the Starfleet Academy grounds it was.

    Thanks.

Head over to the bay and bridge and you will find the memorial there. You can't miss it, there is an eternal flame burning.

A very touching tribute. Not overstated, but very moving. I admit, reading the inscription, I got a lump in my throat.

To those among the stars, we salute you.

Since the patch broke STO for me (and dozens of others) I haven't been able to see this moving tribute. :(

    Same here; want to, can't.

the in memory plaque, as a suggestion, you want to give an accolade for viewing like the accolade for viewing all the other plaques on the academy?

Trust me. When you do get back in game (which I hope is soon) the wait would be worth it. The memorial is truely beautiful, and the inscription is just so perfect. Mark Valentine has been done proud.

To those who designed and implemented the memorial, I truely salute you all.

a very fitting tribute to someone who was very special.
I am reminded of the saying
"he's not really dead if we find a way to remember him."
and I think there is no better way to remember him in game then this.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

It's near Admiral Meyer (sp?), pointing toward the far end of the Bay Bridge. I also initially had trouble finding it, until I just wandered around the entire area bordered by the buildings and the bay, and then all but stumbled onto it. Since then, I've been to it three times (once for my FED character, and twice for my FED-allied Romulan character). It is beautiful without being over-the-top, and the quote is perfect.

The memorial is very nice indeed, but it is cut off from any KDF player who wish to pay their respects. I would like to see a memorial placed for him in the Hall of Warriors in the First City, so all may pay homage.

Seconded. Would be really nice if we could give him a monument in the Hall of Warriors too, for KDF players.

Sorry but who was Mark Valentine? Was this a real person or an in-game character?

Mark Valentine is a real person. He is better known to those who play foundry missions as h2orat (check out his last foundry mission Rising Pheonix, it is better that superb). Mark was also behind the F2P trailer for STO.

Sadly though he recently lost his battle against the vile and evil disease cancer. He was loved and respected by all those at Cryptic / PWE, and also by many STO players too (whether they knew him personally or not). He gave foundry authors (through his previous work) inspiration to create their missions.

Mark maybe gone from the material world, but his memory will always live on in the stars of our Star Trek universe.

Fourthed on the KDF having one as well.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
