Federation Shutdown?

Just to let you all know, in the event that the Federation government shuts down while funding issues are being debated, all Starfleet personnel (enlistees, warrant officers, and commissioned officers) are still required to perform their assigned duties to the best of their ability. Civilians assigned to Starfleet may also be required to continue in their respective professions, although many may be put on furlough. Civilian employees are encouraged to see their immediate supervisor for more information.

During this time of uncertainty, it is imperative that Starfleet continues to perform it's mission of protecting the borders and interests of the Federation, as well as exploring unknown space, going where no one has gone before. There are many nefarious factions in the galaxy that would like to see Starfleet collapse under such circumstances, such as the Klingon Empire, the Tholian Assembly, and the Borg Hive, to name a few. However, Starfleet remains dedicated to the task at hand and will not waver in spite of such adversity. Starfleet personnel may experience a delay in their benefits, energy credits, latinum, whatever, but Starfleet and the Federation will continue to live long and prosper. Thank you.

Federation economics is not based money. And the Federation Council would never be so incompetent.

So because the Federation government will be shut down, that means the politicians on the Federation Council crashing the Alpha Quadrant's economy and defaulting on our debts to the Ferengi Alliance will go without pay or benefits, right?

The OP is making a joke about the current state of the US government. They are trying to hide political discussion by using a fictional setting.

Yes, it was a deadpan joke soaked in irony. Being in the military, it was very finny more me. I swear, some people have the humor of Data. And I misspelled San Francisco. Thanks for pointing that out.

In other news, the Vulcans and Andorians are still pointing fingers at each other over who let the Federation books get in such bad shape.

In the future we aren't burdened with corrupt political parties that stay around for 200 years and never go away like Democrats and Republicans so the Federation doesn't have that problem.

Actualy we need an actual government before we can discuss one. As it is the federation council has been in bad shape for quite a while.

Yeah, they should get onto the treadmill at least three times a week. That'll finally get them into shape.

And now from the Federation Entertainment Network:

All the members of the Federation Council have been nominated for Space Emmy awards for their heroic displays of political theater leading to the recent crisis.

Andorian Ambassador Shaan had this to say when asked for comment: "It's all those pink skins and green blooded freaks who are responsible for this mess, obviously. Their treachery knows no bounds." Ambassador Shaan then had an assistant wipe the sweat from his brow and retreated to his trailer.

Vulcan Ambassador T'Bull replied: "The only logical course of action is for the Andorians to accept that our proposal is the only valid action." An unseen voice was heard to say "Cut!" and Ambassador T'Bull walked toward the nearby catering table.

The schedule for the interstellar broadcast of the awards ceremony has not yet been announced. Stay tuned to FEN for further developments.

    Breaking News !!

This just in from the RRN affiliates in the federation

There has been a coupe and the current federation president has been overthrown and as of today barack obama the 23rd has taken power in the now renamed United Federation of Obamacare.

It is expected that the already struggling economy will now take a turn for the worse as obama the 23rd has sworn to get the federation out of the current economic crisis.

    In other news

There has been a change in leadership in the klingon empire as former chancellor j'mpok was defeated in ritual combat by richard nixons head.

What will become of this new regime? we can only speculate as nixons head has shown to be a tyranical leader with good fashion sense.

We here at the Romulan Republic news network wishes nixons head the best of luck and a hearty congradualations on his new position Good luck Mr Nixons head.

Thats all in the news everyone watching at home and abroad HAVE A NICE DAY :)

Dukatcare is now Law, and the Bajorans don't appreciate my kindness! I knew it! I've always known it! I should've killed every last one of them! I should've turned their planet into a graveyard the likes of which the galaxy had never seen! I should have killed them all.

Soon, Dukatcare will burn across Bajor, the Celestial Temple, the Alpha Quadrant. Can you picture it? An entire universe set in flames!!! To burn for all eternity.

you forgot to mention flag officers.
I agree with a few other posters star fleet wouldn't be so foolish plus there is no such thing as money in star fleet unless you include gold press latium.

    BREAKING NEWS!!!

In a press conference today at the white house rose garden president dukat swore that he would not negotiate a deal with the dutapa lead bajoran congress on the matter of dukatcare.

He also added that he always knew the bajorans would never appreciate anything he has done ...but we here at RRN know that the bajorans appreciate nothing and whine about everything.

He also swore that he would pass a new bill that would ensure affordable burial on bajor no longer will bajorans not be able to afford to be buried.

He also mentioned that if the current shutdown does not end it could cause a catastrophic inversion in the subspace field that might cause the univeres to erupt in flames.

We here at RRN wish president dukat the best of luck as it seems the dutapa lead bajoran congress is intent in not surrendering to his demands

Thats all in the news Have a nice day :)
