Reman built ships.

Hi, I am an avid fan of STO and while playing the Romulan faction, it occured to me that even after you reach level 50, you only very briefly get any mention of the Remans being part of the Romulan Republic. I mean yes, there are plenty of DOFFS and BOFFS of Reman origin, but what about weapons and ships? That in turn made me think that maybe, to fill some of the various ship type selection scarcity issues (only 1 official Science ship and 2 official cruisers), the devs could start a line of Reman engineered ships. I think this idea might have some merrit, at least in terms of copyright issues, as there are, to the best of my knowledge, no truly home grown ships of Reman design anywhere in the Star Trek universe. If this is true, then it could give the game devs considerable room for creative licence in designing new ships for the Romulan faction to use, and fill in the gaps in selection for the non-tactical captains out there and would also show a greater involvement of the Remans in helping to build the Republic. All in all I think this idea might have merrit and I hope to get some feedback from the comunity and maybe even the devs on the viability of Reman designed ships and/or equipment. After all, the Republic cant be flying around in repurposed ships forever, right? :)

The Romulan Republic doesn't have the resources to build a mud hut on New Romulus without help from their overlords, much less even have a shipyard. Must be fun replacing all the losses D'Tan allows with his forces fighting for both the Klingons and Federation, and killing each other.

... and much less having Romulan warship designs.

Well we do have the Scimitar, but yeah I can see your point since this new "Republic" is supposed to include Remans, their ships should be incorporated. The problem is, since the movies only showed the Scimitar the the Reman shuttles, would Cryptic have to make up new designs around Remans?

The answer would probably be yes, as the Reman's were at one time slaves to the Romulan Empire and forced to build or do what they pretty much say. I am sure some if not most of the current and/or past ship designs were actually influenced by Reman ship designers or builders.

And yet the Republic is building their own escort carriers, something even the KDF can't do, so they must be doing something right. :P

More seriously though, if the Remans and the Republic are doing a unified military, I don't see why they'd have separate ships. It isn't like they're two totally independent entities like the Klingons and Gorn, each with their own worlds and shipyards and design bureaus and all. Especially given the resources available, I think joint designs are far more likely than going independent.

I could see a couple of pure Reman-designed ships in the future. Perhaps one could fill the science ship role that some Romulan players been hoping for.

I would be perfectly fine if all of the Republic ships had Reman parts to go with it. Just as all of the original Fed ships and some of the KDF ships have different parts to mix and match. I hate that they seem to have gotten away from that.

Who is to say that the vet ship and the new tactical warbird is not a joint program from both the reman and the Romulan engineering teams. After all both of them make the republic.

From the "Countdown" comics we know the Remans were already building their own ships before the Hobus event

and while the ships in the comics look rather...unimpressive...well the comics didn't portray any ships in an impressive way.;)

So, IMHO, those ships could easily be used as a starting point for some Reman designs.

i agree..therefor .the next logical conclusion should be that if remans built a scimatar hanger ship they should also keep their line of huge ships ... and build a FULLY BLOWN 2 HANGER CARRIER

Hmm yea, one of the ideas I had for introducing Reman designed ships was that they came from a Reman colony that recently joined the Republic and they offered the use of their ships or at least ship designs. Also, it is my understanding that in regards to the Gorn, Orions and Nausicans, they had ships prior to being incorporated into the Klingon Empire, so it makes sence that those ships would have been added to the existing Klingon fleet. Finaly, I would like to point out that Starfleet has recently started using Caitian, Risan and Andorian designed ships, and for some time now have offered the use of a Vulcan science vessel to Federation captains for their purposes. With that in mind, I dont see why the Remans couldnt have had some prototype ships or designs in the works when they joined the Republic and the Republic simply using them as is, instead of trying to "Romulanise" them out of some sort of need to have their fingerprints in the designs. At any rate, the reason why I think that a Reman set of ships might be enjoyable for the devs is due to the fact that there arent many existing designs out there, and that would allow them to creat whole new "Not owned and copyrighted by PBS" ship designs, which in turn would allow the designers to stretch their creative wings, so to speak.

I would love to see some Reman ships. Also wouldn't hurt if they were more Reman parts to new Romulus ;). I personally am a fan of the Reman species and I think more focus should be put on them :).

Comics aside (i wish i had not seen those horrible pictures) as far as i know the only known Reman Ship design is the Scimitar.

The Remans were a slave race prior to Nemesis and i find it unlikely that they had designs other than the Scimitar.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Not only that but I'd hoped for a while now the Reman portion of the City would be accessible.

Sadly it was never meant to be.
