So most people who own disruptor or phaser quad cannons are a little miffed at the new set bonus that comes with the romulan disruptor quad cannons.
So here is my suggestion that should help take the sting out of the situation without too much hassle.
If your romulan player is allied with the federation and you have quad phaser cannons why not be able to equip the quad phasers on the Ar'Kif and still be eligible for the set bonus.
Same if you allied with the Klingons and you have the quad disruptors.
Just so you know, they are Plasma for Romulan, and not Disruptor. Only KDF has that and the Feds have Phaser for their Quad Cannons....
Yeah I know that just got a little distracted at the time and never checked it before posting. But thank you for correcting me cos people are always real great full when there corrected.
This is something they should have done from the beginning, making the special weapons completely different with sets and special skills.
This is how it should be:
Federation - Quad Phaser banks 120 degrees with 20% ACC and 30% Crit
Klingons - Heavy Quad Disruptor Cannons - 90 Degrees with x 4 damage and 10% Crit Chance
Romulans - Current said bonus set since most players protect against plasma.
If you made all the "special" type weapons different, most players would want to test them all, instead again Cryptic goes with the generic lazy approach, but at least this time someone said< "hey maybe we can do something a little different". Thus they added a consoles to make it a set. I love how the Romulans have the only retrofit version that actually comes with something instead of the pathetic HP/Shield/weapons slot/ console increase TRIBBLE we get with every upgraded versions of ships.
Maybe someone in Cryptic realized that if you just make BOTH SHIPS unique, the original and the retrofit, people will actually WANT to buy BOTH.
Quad phaser banks? I don't think so.
Quad Phaser Cannons were the original cannons, the iconic weaponry of the USS Defiant, everyone else is just a knock-off. :P

So the Feds get a good weapon and the RR and KDF are stuck with a crappy weapon with even crappier stats?
Advancements in weapons technology development in different nations is frequently unequal. So just because the Rommies develop a better plasma weapon doesn't mean the Feds and KDF automatically make similar advancements in their weaponry.
^^True dat! ref: Russian optic guidance vs US stealth vs Chinese cupcakes. I am not allowed to talk about British triangular 'ufo's', but that is another story... ...hm, wait. someone is knocking on my door. damn those pesky MIB's... ...You never know when they want coffee...

don't bother with giving me a set bonus on my defiant class ships, just let me equip multiple quads! the only quad cannon set bonus that would make a lot of sence to me is a 3 piece set of a special abalative hull armor with the quads and cloak, let this offer defiant class ships a non perfect battle cloak, extra power to the entire ship (not just +15 weapons, but a +15, +5,+5, +5 on the ship) and an accolade relating to chief O'Brien that comes with a title.

Seriously??? Must everything be exactly identical? Who cares?
Some of you people would complain about a free ship. Oh wait...
I don't complain about the free ships love the free ships.

LTS, here since...when did this game launch again?
It seems very odd to me that the Rommies get these two set bonuses while the other factions get nada.
It's not really Rommies getting the love its more the weapon type getting all the love. Plasma has a weapon boost from romulan embassy and now this.
True on the plasma.......but theres no Fed or Klingon equivilant to the set bonus from, say the Tvaro and its retrofit.
If I have the quad phaser cannon from the Tactical escort refit and the cloak from the retrofit, I dont suddenly get a destabilised photon torpedo.
