Hello Captains,
Well to begin I don't know if anyone made this kind of post yet, but if anyone has, please improve on this post too, I'd be grateful
I'm new to this community, although I have some toons at level 50 requiring further improvement on my part.
As a game development amateur and probably future real developer, I have some interests in the gameplay of STO.
This game has a big potential, and I'm sure many of you agree on this point.
What I'm suggesting is the following :
-(Very Optional): The ability to make entire campaigns with the Foundry, not only missions but chain missions which the player could alter to get an entire new result at the end of the campaign, depending on the choices he made.
-(Optional) : The ability to discover randomly generated planets, and make a colony with our duty officers, as though we could see the progression of the construction of our colony, and be able to defend it - buy supplies for it to last longer.
-(Optional): The ability for our ships to land on planets - that's just an aesthetics topic, but it would so be nice. You could land your ship if necessary, when on crisis, and see it on the planet, maybe damaged or anything.
-(Optional): When you lay in the course for a place in the galaxy, it would be uber cool to see the flight when we're on the bridge. Well that's the point of all this post lol, to be able to do ship operations as in Star Trek : Bridge Commander, but not as advanced ( because it's a MMO).
I know STO has a lot of content, but if we could add a touch of real bridge captain, this MMO would be the best Star Trek game of all times.
Well that's it for now, if you have any more ideas, I would be please to hear them !
NB: Sorry for my grammatic errors, I'm french and I try my best in english.

This would be amazing. It'd definitely give us something to do. The colony could be a source of semi-passive new currency or materials (in exchange for doffs and other materials.)
There could be an entire story build around it. Your ship is the one to help the colonists and patrol (defend) the system from hostiles of whatever kind.

Agreed. Rep is good and all, but when you're done there's not much else to do and short of the gear, not much to physically show off. A "colony" that works in much the same way as the Starbase would be really cool.
I would really see this as a non-timegated mechanic.
Basically; Everything you can gain from it can happen passively. However, you can speed up everything by being present on the ground (Just like new romulus missions). That way we can do something productive while we chat, or wait between stf's.
A rep mechanic for additional features (but without the 20hour completion timers) would be cool too. Think a rep mechanic to add a mailbox to the colony and other features (except exchange, else everyone will just camp there).
So many possibilities!
I've always loved mining in every game I've played... So that could be a cool feature too, to get raw construction materials. And Presto, we added a tie in for crafting!

Word was that Dilithium Mine was supposed to be coming as an add-on for fleet starbases. Not sure how that would work though.
I'm unsure how to feel about that though, dilithium is far too easy to gain already, at the same time it's far too slow to refine it.
I've got 100.000 unrefined dilithium stockpiled on one character, and I'm not even trying to gain it
A "manual" ground way to mine and refine dilithium would be cool. Even if it was just another 8000 a day.
The game desperately needs something small that we can do between stf's and chatting. Something that doesn't interrupt when we join an stf and return after like missions do.
