So I recently leveled another rommie to check out the new Ar'kif Retrofit. Get to the ship vendor and low and behold the VA token is NOT usable for the purchase. Working as intended? or bug?

Free Ship Tokens from promotion have never, ever, EVER been usable on C-Store or now, Fleet Ships. For you to advance to Vice Admiral and all the promotions before, you should have realized this by now.

... As a veteran, you get a VA token, that is usable on a T5 Retrofit vessel. I can purchase the D'Deri retrofit, the t'varo, etc. etc. So instead of jumping to the conclusion that I made a stupid mistake, perhaps you should do a little more fact finding, so you don't look foolish again.

He's talking about the VA Vet Token, which SHOULD be good for such ships.

Dev blog says that the only ship you can get with a rank-up token is the Commander-level one. The Ar'kala and Ar'kif Retrofit ships are C-store only. If I recall your last free ship was at 40.

The D'Deridex Retrofit likewise is 2,000 Zen, as is the T'Varo Retrofit.

If you have the Legacy pack unlocked, then the D'Deridex and T'Varo Retrofit would be free. The Ar'kif is not a part of the Legacy pack, so you'd still have to pay 2,000 zen.

I seem to recall Vice Admiral tokens for ships went the way of the dodo when the game went f2p.

    /facepalm

Thank you for not being as dismissive as the first person. But I I have not purchased the Legacy pack and I assure you I DO have a VA token. I have used it several times on different characters in season 7.

Just like with the VA token does not work for the Armitage, it does not work on EVERY ship.
Appearently this is one of those birds it does not affect.

there are/were plenty of ships that were not aligable for the VA token. Guramba, dreadnought cruiser (that is actually all i can come up with) for no apparent reason those were excluded. seems this new romulan beauty is part of this "exhaulted" circle.

So far, I thought it was ships going for 2k that were included and the 2,5k ships that were not.

No idea if that was the original system, but that distinction seemed to work.

That would make sense. I admit it's not something I'm familiar with, as I do have the Legacy pack and a bunch of other c-store ships unlocked so I never really needed my VA token.

Oh yeah, I remember power leveling my first KDF just to hit General before F2P to have my VA Token, and then was hit with the realization that I can get nothing that my Engi would love. No guramba, no Marauder. I got a Kar'fi out of spite, and then went on and purchased the Marauder. And then I had to retire it because I got a fleet Tor'Kath. >.>

well, The Ar'kif refit is a good ship and has a great console, but the mate to that console is on the Ar'Kala So, you end up spending 3500 zen on it to get the full set.. I can see where they would exclude veterans from that ( especially since vets get ships many of us will never see ), but i admit i do disapprove of their strategy..

Indeed a little irritating that for those who have the Legacy Pack, the VA token is useless if it does not apply to the Ar'kala retro. I think the scope of that token should be expanded, especially on the KDF side.

Welll, I kinda have too take my words back.. Since yesterday, the Ar'kif has been dieing rapidly even with fire from rather weak ships. The numbers all read the same, but the ship disintegrates if you look at it wrong.. If this is supposed to be an improvement because of the hangar, please take the useless hangar back and give me my ship back.. its ruined right now..

so, they took the already lower native resists of rom ships, then vo'quv-d it to be weaker still?

    thats almost epic.

At first and second glance i'm afraid so.. Still i know that underlying that is potentially a great ship. it's just a matter of finding the right combination of boff skills and equipment..

Just a curiosity.. how do you get a build to do 7484 DPS withut going the Pay to win or grind your life into the gutter routes???

minimum of 3 tac consoles regardless of class. if your ship doesnt have this, discharge it, feel remore for having bought it.

combination of buffs & debuffs depending on type of ship
    keep your power levels up.
for cruisers either use an aux2batt bulid or cycle eptx
    eg
    tt - faw
    thy

    et - epts - eptw - aux2sif
    ep2s - aux2sif - eptw
    he - tss
    st

then use 3 eptx cooldown and 2 extra power with eptx doffs

vortex probes have no native resist, so just killing 3 of them in a 20km stretch of space isnt too hard, unfortunatly cruisers need more heals in stf than escorts do thanks to the borked mechanics of the game causing cruisers to take more damage because they are made to be slower.

    this ship
    http://gateway.startrekonline.com/#char(Ferrin@skollulfr)/ship-equipment
can do it, though it doesnt have the best boff setup at the moment

I will certainly give that a shot.. Thank you :)
