Any plans for more playable species as captains???

It would be nice in future if theres a bigger selection of playable species as captains of any ship.
4 Species that come to mind are,Jemhadar,Vorta,Founder and undine.
Some ideas for you there cryptic.
Speaking of vorta,i know cryptic are considering voice overs from well known trek stars,how about adding Jeffery combs to that list too.(weyoun) A delightful guy.

    What you're asking for is a Faction. Those species would probably become available with some type of Dominion Faction rather then as playable in the Fed, KDF, or Rom Factions.
    STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

    If we're talking playable species and not factions then I'd like the Suliban be a playable race for the Romulan Republic.

    Throwing in a vote for actual Cardies with appropriate species traits, not ones made with the alien editor. (We can get Cardie doffs, why not Cardie boffs and players?)

    I think the romulans would need to be a full independent faction before we can add more. kthx

    I'd like to be able to redo my Trill to make her Bajoran like the rest of my Boff crew to go along with the story I made up for them,... much more than I would want to play a mindless Jem'Hadar, a weak Vorta, a totally impractical Founder (everyone would want the shape shifting ability and really, how would you put THAT into here), or an impractical Undine,...

    There have been several hints that this is in the works. I for one can't wait. :)

    Any race that gets made with be forced into being allies with either the Fed or KDF, just like the Romulans were.
    Fed: Eng Lib Borg (Five) Tac Andorian (Shen) Sci Alien/Klingon (Maelrock) KDF:Tac Romulan KDF (Sasha) Tac Klingon (K'dopis)

    As long as a new Faction Expansion gives me new missions, species, ships, etc, I don't care if it is allied with the Feds and KDF.

    In all seriousness, this would be perfect. Bring me smooth headed Klingons, Selkies, Elaysians, and Pahkwa-thanhs, and I'll be a content player for the rest of his days.

    With all the options available when you select Alien, you're essentially free to play whatever species you want.

    Indeed, but... it's just not the same... Playing as a Federation Orion(/Krosian) isn't the same as being an actual Orion. Neither is playing as a Vorta. Among other things you don't get a racial passive. Sure a lot of people dislike those, but the current version is pretty nice. But it's fun to be able to make your character look like one of those. :D

    With how the reputation system is currently i don't know if it would be worth their time to release another species and especially another faction. Some will play it, but to get the base to make it worth long term support they will need a shortcut to reputation.

    I am very concerned this will inhibit future releases if their next effort falls short and be understood as a lack of interest in races and factions.

    Maybe they should offer sex change tokens first. It is canon. Look at Quark.

    But really, do we need more species? Have we as a player really tried them all? When was the last time you played as a mighty Pakled captain? Where else can you get an awesome trait like dumb luck.

    For what it's worth, I'd like to see Deltans for the Federation. Throw in the Boslic or Talarian for the KDF whilst they're at it.
    Any plans for more playable species as captains???
    I'm still waiting for them to fix the Benzite Bridge Officer issue. The Benzite have been with this game since launch, and yet the problem of Benzite Bridge Officers hasn't been solves.

    In three and a half years, they've not been able to fix something so simple (the Benzite model already exists, and you can create a Benzite character). But yeah, three and a half years? It does stand to reason that they'd release a new species (that'll cost) before they fix the Benzite situation (cause it would be free).

    I believe the Suliban and Yridian are both rumoured to be included as playables (and bridge crew) in an upcoming release.

    Whilst I too would like to see this, I know it just isn't going to happen. Ever. Cryptic have made the current system and I don't think it's one they can undo easily.

    I can't see them doing that either. By doing so, people wouldn't have so many characters (less characters, less lobi purchases, less lock boxes opened). They aren't going to destroy their revenue.

    I'd like to see an Android species made available. It'd be pretty cool.

    To the people who said do we really need more species or factions. Being present from the start of Star Trek. Only recently starting to post on these new forums.

    I have indeed played all the races, these are what keeps me playing and spending money! I am a trekkie but there is only so many times 'In a Game!' You can repeat something, so you start to look for the aesthetic value! That is either new ships for some new species and a new faction falls smack in the middle!

    New content only sates the desire to see your beloved species! To control one brings hours even months of joy!

    My first captain was Bolian and his crew were all one huge Bolian family. Months of roleplay Joy!

    Second Klingon, which gave hours of roleplay pvp joy!

    Liberated Borg Third... The list goes on!


    Edit: These factions were promised to be released at the very start! I am a bit appauled of merging Romulans into Feds or KDF, Following the story arcs doesn't give you the true feel when your Remans chat back with Qa'pla. That said when the romulans were released my faith in Cryptic was restored. For the fact that they broke promises!
