We have the Tuffi and the Cell ship. Enough with the trade ships. What I need is a troop ship (or cruise ship)! I got an army of doffs that need to stop loitering around the post office.
Give it a bridge and a console that 'holds' 1000 doffs.
Give it some decent sort & find function too.
Then I can put my poor doffs there instead of a quanity-nerfed-to-hell mailbox.
(and if you use this idea, Cryptic, I'll take payment in a troop ship in a box)
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.

I like it.
You can find/contact me in game as @PatricianVetinari. Playing STO since Feb 2010.
This . . .
I almost thought we'd get a cruise ship too with the Risa event. Ah well...
"Last Engage! Magical Girl Origami-san" is in print! Now with three times more rainbows.
Support the "Armored Unicorn" vehicle initiative today!
Thanks for Harajuku. Now let's get a real "Magical Girl" costume!
That's because the Defiant is escorting the strike cruiser/dropship flying behind it.

Defiant has a trailer hitch...
Space campers? Redshirt rednecks? the LOL just goes on...
Yep... And instead of torpedoes, it fires cinder blocks and empty beer cans.
We need a storage solution.
mmm you can still store doffs in the mail just not as many as before, so apparently there is a mechanism and the 400 doff limit only applies to doffs you can have on your character at once.
But back to the OPs idea how about this:
Federation Holoship
or
Sheliak colony ship
or something similiar
Rank: Lieutenant
Type: Special
Hull: 17,500 Shield Modifier: 1.0
Weapons: Fore 2 Aft 2 , Crew: 50 , Device Slots: 5
Bridge Officers:
XX
X
Consoles:
XX
XX
Turn Rate: 15 , Impulse Modifier: 0.17 , Inertia rating: 50
Bonus : +10 shield power, Battle Cloak
Performance
The "x" shipx were apparently not designed as combat vessels, as they come with minimal armaments designed only to ward off pirates and other would-be threats it seems to be build around what we would classify as a Battle Cloak enabling them to remain undetected and thus avoid endangering the colonists during the voyage of unknown length. The Lobi Crystal Constortium has found a number of these ships abandoned in an undisclosed location when the power for the cloaking device had failed on several of the ships. The question raised during initial investigation of the ships is what disaster or enemy had caused a large portion to flee from their home world ?
Onboard Amenities
The interior has a number of onboard features not available on ship classes other than the Suliban Cell Ship and Ferengi D'Kora Marauder. The ship's owner can access them by selecting "Visit Starship Bridge" on the dropdown menu, and once onboard, can share them with friends by sending Bridge Invitations.
*A Trader NPC (similar to the one at Deep Space Nine) that offers Trade Assignments.
While the pool of possible assignments is the same, it is possible for the Freighter Trader and the DS9 Trader to offer a different selection of assignments at any particular time.
*A Quartermaster who sells commodities at Specialized Commodities Broker rates.
Ferengi captains also get their Energy Credit discount on these purchases.
*Bank, Exchange, Mail, and Crafting terminals.
*A Select Ship interface, allowing the player to swap out the Freighter for a more combat-worthy vessel. Unlike the Select menu offered in a shuttle bridge or a starship's Transporter Room, the Tuffli offers access to any ship in the player's possession.
*As the shuttle bridge is always available to players that own at least one small craft, and its Select Ship menu can include the Tuffli, a player can effectively have access to the Freighter's features at any non-mission location.
*Holographic storage matrix artifact - apparently the original use of the ships were to transport large numbers of personnel and equipment appropriate to begin colonization on a small planetary body. the ship is apparently able to keep up to 1000 colonists and 100 pieces of equipment in a special Holo-matrix build into the ship and uses the ships transporters to reconstitute the colonists or equipment as needed when they arrived at their destination.
Sector Space Abilities
*A discount to any Energy Credit Purchase while onboard your ship (for instance, from Sector Space Freighter Stores).
*Transwarp Drive with Exploration Cluster destinations pre-programmed. Like many older Transwarp drives, the "X" ship's Transwarp has a small chance to fail when traveling to Cluster destinations.) A failure causes no ill effects, though the ship does not move and the transwarp cooldown timer begins.
and there you go a unique ship with a little backstory that seems purpose build for Doff err colonist storage and extra inventory space.
have fun all
Using common sense, simple solutions based in canon? Are you mad??!! It has to be some long lost race's ultra uber transport of doom to even get considered!
It'd follow you around on missions and solo play like Boffs already do on ground maps.
As an extension, maybe promote some of your Doffs into Boffs, someday they too could make captain!
Sorry, still can't figure out how to embed pics within a post. Any help?
PWE too cheap to store embedded pics.
I too like that ship from the calendar. Wish Cryptic would replace the scores of Cardassian cargoships that are everwhere with faction specific versions in each sector.
Hey rednecks dont waste good shelving material (cinder blocks) and building materials (beer cans) like that you know! They would fire melons and potatos ofcourse.
"I'm drunk, whats your excuse for being an idiot?" - Unknown drunk man.
