Actualy Fleet customization?

Will we ever be able to customize the appearance starbases and fleet holdings?
Yes I know we have the occasional special projects, but they don't really count as such since they are an "unlock" and not truly an option to customize the apperance of any of it.

I for one think it would be cool if we could choose the scenery around which our starbase is located, and perhaps choose from different interior themes and decoration hotspots etc.

Like I can customize my ship appearance, I want to do the same to my starbase. Definitely the colors, and perhaps the pieces that make up the whole. Sounds like a C-store purchase and/or a special project.

What gets me is the season 6 launch videos showing fleet starbases located around two or three planets when I warp to mine its just hung there in the empty void of space.

Interior customisation would be nice. Change the color of the floor and of the doors or the material of the walls. Same on the own ship.

Funny enough we actually have some freedom of customization with the ship interiors.
We are able to select layout, bridge and customize our trophies.

Thats another idea, which really merits its own thread, but it would be cool if there could be special and hard 20-man raids for fleets that unlocked trophies for the fleet starbase.

This is the main reason why I left my old fleet and joined my new one. The other reason is that Starbase progression was almost non-existent. Play an Exiled Borg so wanted a Starbase with Borg Alcoves and other Borg equipment.

What would be nice is the ability to establish a starbase in another location, iam surprised that Cryptic not placing an exterior looking station in the C-Store.

would be nice if the fleet system was located in a nebula or have the facilities orbiting a planet or something but if they did add anything new like that it would probably be another dilithium eating special project

It is all short sighted as usual, nothing long term or in depth, always half way and never all the way.

I would love for our starbase's name to show up painted on the hull in big letters, with our fleet logo plastered all over the place as well - the starbase itself, the flags inside, etc.

Cryptic is proud of customization options which players have with their characters, even Mr. Sthal spoke about it in one of Ask Cryptic or State of Game. Space stations were have to be unique for every Fleet, right now I'm all most sure that all stations look exactly the same.

Instead those so called spacial projects you should give Fleet leaders or any other person with correct fleet permission to use foundry and design which elements should be put in actual interior. Depending on which elements were used in project game system will calculate cost for Fleet project.

For example I'd like to put three ship models on wall in Ops and a chair under them. Each model have base cost: 2500 GPL, 50 dilithium and 2 Self sealing steambolts and chair require 50 Provisions. So Fleet must pay 7500 GPL, 150 dilithium, 6 Self sealing steambolts and 50 Provisions to activated new project for furniture.

Unfortunately allot of promises have been made that have not been fulfilled nor followed through, the current starbase system is a stop gap to satisfy the community with what we have. It would be nice to have a designated purpose, while allowing for the means of giving people the option of building onto the station, customization, to allowing trade to occur while also allowing for people to rent or lease a space within ones starbase. Id like to see another area that i think is lacking in regards building, id like to see farming of materials that allow the sell of true materials that one has to mine in order to obtain those materials in order to build station materials, ship materials etc, etc. Give the stations a purpose which does not exist.

Another thing that id like to see when it comes to stations, is a variety of outside looks, while we currently have careers for Tact, Eng, Science, why dont we have the same for stations? Not threat exist when it comes to damage to repairs or placing ones station in jeopardy.

It is insane, in part that Cryptic for the most part has one of the best customization systems on the market and it doesn't extend into the starbases, while i understand why they cant on the ships due to the IP but the starbases i would think are not restricted.

I feel like they totally missed a big thing to make it a fleets own here.

A choice in base would have been great, you know getting to pick between ESD, DS9, Drozana(old version), K-7.

Crew quarters for those IN the fleet, including in it a bed, closet, fish tank, window(if on the outside) desk, maybe little trophy wall.

Stuff, to make it our own, maybe the Base personell wearing the Damned Fleet uniforms that we picked for our fleet?

Almost everyone wants real customization both for their Fleets as well as their ships. I can list quite a few of the common desires of people I've chatted both in my fleet, and in the fleets of friends over the years:

    Starbase/Fleet Holdings:
    1) Setting the Uniform of all people in your holding
    2) Organizing the art in your holding to create a personalized base.
    3) Having resource gathering missions that actually mean something.
    4) Streamlining the system to make it less of a headache. Namely, making things like commodities and doffs easier to manage. This can be quite the big deal because each base a fleet runs is often sending off 500 doffs a day. That is a significant amount of clicking required, and hours and hours of rather tedious work. There is a better way. The same can be said of the resources, which jam up inventory and are likewise a bit annoying to manage. Commodities could very easily be fitted into a 'resource' tab much like supergroup base resources were handled for City of Heroes, and it would take a good bit of the annoyance out of the designers continually making new resources to jam our inventories.

    Personal Holdings:
    1) Personal Home
    2) Ship Interior Customization
    3) Ship Uniform Customization
    4) Ship Layout Customization: From what I've seen of this one, people realize a ship has its basic layout, but different business functions could actually be added in the predefined spaces given. Much like Janeway's Aquaponics space which was repurposed, to some more hardcoded things like Astrometrics. This ties into the next one.
    5) Functional Interior. As it stands there is little compelling about the interior. Sure we can doff, but doffing isn't overally interactive. Its a very simplistic text based facebook type game built into the game. It is a minigame and nothing more. Even adding more minigames would be nice. How about a Holodeck, they could offer all kinds of art assets and sell an awful lot of things on the Zen store with this. How about an Astrometrics lab minigame that could help you unlock or locate something interesting in a Exploration Zone (Exploration zones could be so much cooler). Poker tables? Domjot? I'm sure they could even sell these minigames on the zen store, as a way to help fund the development of Cheap but nonessential games to add to the main game. Maybe even something really interesting could be added this way.

I'm sure I've missed something but these are some of the many ideas I've heard for a long time. Hopefully the game keeps developing and we'll see it.

I think that other than just adding more of the same grind over and over they really do need to stop with the unlocking options so everyone's everything looks exactly the same.
They need to develop a system where people can customize everything, from your captain's quarters, star base quarters, and fleet holdings. I mean.. they gave us a 2nd floor to a mine with NOTHING on it.
Selecting uniforms, textures, colours to placing variable objects in a wide number of locations.

I'm 100% sure it'd make cryptic rich, people collecting and unlocking rare items to show off to friends and new designs of their quarters. It would inspire roleplay, creativity and happiness with loyalty among players..

I'm inclined to agree. I think this has to do with a philosophical difference between Cryptic and PWE. I hate to say it but its probably the accountants dictating how a game sould be built here. Fortunately at least PWE recognizes you do need to add content, but the creative element of the game that Cryptic use to be famous for, I'm concerned it might be dying off. We're lucky they built the Foundry before they got bought out. Hopefully they might still use those resources and find a way to open them up so we CAN be creative. I think its going to take a hefty bit of charisma, persuasion and desire on the Cryptic team's part to pull it off, and hopefully they have that drive to do it. I'm not necessarily knocking PWE here, I'm just pointing out that culturally they are historically a very different kind of gaming company with very different ways of doing things. I think the one thing we have to look forward to, is that I do think the Devs do want to make these customization things. I just hope they can pitch the idea without having to monetize the thing so heavily that its not fun. I'm all for pay to enjoy, but I am not the sort of Gamer who treats gaming like a gambling addiction.

It would be nice, since PWE took over the direction has turned ever increasingly to gambling/grinding/mindless pewpew. What made STO seem like Star Trek is just gone. I don't want to P2W, it feels cheap, I have a lot of expendable income, but I haven't put money into the game since.. January?, then maybe 6 months before that, and I don't see myself doing it for more lockboxs or ships ever.

Now if the game direction changed, if I weren't paying for stuff I already paid for, then I would happily pay them money. There are only so many ships a person needs or wants, it gets to a point that they are strangling a rock for orange juice.
