OK i get things up and fire the game, patch everything and what do i see, the Nerf gremlins have ran amok again. I mean wow, in a game with User interface issues galore and server that drop people faster then a pro athlete drops clingy emotional girlfriends with attachment issues. You need to fix things that are broken and stop messing with those that do work.

and here is the list.

1 The Monbash battle ship cloak. really, in a game where 2\3 of the ships in the game have cloak. base line cloak on the 80 dollar money boat is not an issue. if you got killed by it and your mad , either do something to stop that form happening or get one yourself. crying OP is not the way.

2 the Subspace console. It was perfect, you had to know what you were doing to use it . things that are in the hands of anyone with a few hundreds thousand energy credits needs to be toned down .For something that has been tossed around everywhere in the game for the last week . it was perfect, if you could read the discretion window.

3 The mail buffer. Hay, instead of messing with how many messages you can see, and what can go in it how about you make some tools that help people to work with the deluge of messages that come across . 300 messages is just 36 days of work for most people. tool that help clean this mess up , not restrictions.

4 The console icons. what the hell. I cant even tell what i am looking at. the console icons were not a problem. Bad enough i have to figure out what i am looking at now . I also have to make sense of this rainbow colored mess. it looks like pile of silly bands some 8 year old just spilled out and too a picture of.

In short: " If it anit broke , don't fix it" its that simple and messing with 80$ virtual products is sure fire way not to sell them.

*blinks* The Elachi ship wasn't supposed to cloak in the first place, so, not a nerf. Also, as for the consoles, they're color coded to match what slots they go in so at a glance you can know what goes where. Red=tactical, Blue=Science, Yellow/Gold=Engineering as in the TNG era shows. As for changing what's on the icon, it is my understanding that they were fixed to look more like stuff that's on screen. So, also not a nerf.

I have never heard of a nuff. Even from friends from anywhere in the world, it has always sounded like nerf...but nuff...i just didn't understand it

    Anyways

Monboah wasn't supposed to have a cloak and was taken away...they said so in a few dev posts

Subspace integration circuit was need because it was abused in all aspects of play

I have no idea how to decipher the 36 hour mark

And the icons....I'm with ya, why was dev time wasted on this? Artists aren't being commissioned for new ships or something? Seemed like a waste of resources
    Chive on and prosper, eh?

I'm not liking the icons at the moment but that's because they're new and scary while I am older and er...I can't finish this sentance without coming off bad so I won't. Give it a month and you'll be ok, personally I think the style matches the other special consoles, especially more recent ones.

The subspace console disabled you for a full 10s. That alone is more than any single boff ability or weapon in the game AFAIK. It was essentially a "lolz...i win" button.

Mail...last I checked this was a game, not work, so quit crying about the 36 days or stop playing at work!

Monbosh, please show me an NPC version with cloak? Can't? It shouldn't have one then or should we start issuing cloaks to 2/3rds of Fed ships because the other factions get em? Shush you Fed fans, you cannot have yer damn cloaks!

    Nuff said really.

It is through repetition that we learn our weakness.

Has damage got out of control?
This is the last thing I will post.

" If it anit broke , don't fix it"
That saying usually does not fit into the context it is usually associated with. At most, it screams equivocation. It confuses "fix" with "amend".

I hate the new console artwork. It all looks the same. Yeah, going to a 3-color code for tactical, science, and engineering makes sense but making individual items look like barrels, circles, spheres ... it's a mess. Why not simply leave the old artwork with the new 3-color scheme in the background? Too much change isn't helpful.

I get teh color scheme, but that could have been handled in the background. the icon might grow on me, but they are more difficult to distinguish in their similarity. At least there probably wasn't as much time put into these useless icons that took away from any real design projects so i will give it a pass even if I feel it was a miss allocation of precious dev time.

That has been explained time and time again, and people still gripe about it. The ship wasn't supposed to have a cloak, so they fixed it, not nerfed it. Branflakes even said so in THIS thread that was posted the same day the Elachi lockbox went live, less than 1 1/2 hours afterwards. Not to mention that the ship was never advertised by Cryptic as including a cloak.

Problem is, players complain (rightfully) that Cryptic doesn't fix bugs that are supposed to be fixed, but players also complain when Cryptic fixes bugs that players don't want fixed. Sorry, but we can't have it both ways.

Problem is, the Defiants cloak should be universal for all ships.

    Its a freaking device.

In the DS9 series, Star Fleet was BLOCKED from using it on other ships by Romulans.
But since now we are all friends etc, the device should be used freely by whichever ship wanted it.

It takes 1 slot. It is up to you to either use cloak or not.

    Regarding the LOLz console.
They should leave it like it was. It was a single console worth its money.

But they should take into account the resistance of the ship skills.
Sometimes 10 sec disable would pop, others it would not (depending on your resistance).

Seriously. What do we have now that is similar? Some specialized builds that lock you down just as effectively.

This console was great for people who did not want to specialize in such a manner.

I am sure PvP gods would complain even if it was 5 seconds.
Cant out pwn the pwner, is that it?
Cool kids not being gods any more, is that the prob here? I think it is. It stepped on their toes when they saw that defenseless prey is not so much defenseless and gave them some of their medicine.

I found it gratifying, kicking their OP TRIBBLE.

Now, there is absolutely no reason one should waste a console space to equip that one.
So we are back to square 1.

Gods are reinstated and us nubs fend for themselves like it was.

The problem with the console in pvp was that it had no counter and was a complete "I win" button tat could be used on any ship which outright replaced the specialized science builds (I run one myself) designed to lock down a target and render it defenceless.

The science ships have multiple counters: subnuke beam, photonic shockwave or a decent healer. The console on the other hand as part of an alpha strike from an escort is instant death to anything because nothing can be done to counter the console.

As such the changes Cryptic made to the console were good for everyone, the disable was useless in pve but the extra damage isn't and the disable was overpowered in pvp but the weapons disable isn't and everyone knows that something that doesn't shoot doesn't hurt so now it can be used as an alpha breaker which is a win for everyone.
