Characters - post season 7

thestargazethestargaze Member Posts: 1,020 Arc User
Hi there,

I am curious to see new characters people have now after the release of the Romulan fraction.

Do you still have your old FED or KDF characters or have gone totally ROM?

I thought it would be interesting to see what characters you have. So I started this topic where you can share your characters, with images if you like.

What alliance do they have
Do they have a background story?
What species are they?
What career have you picked for them?
Do you have same character for all career/fraction?
Etc?

I'm confused are you talking about post LoR or season 7. Season 7 was before the launch of Legacy of Romulus. Legacy of Romulus was an expansion not a season

It annoys me when people call them a fraction. Sure, for the purposes of the game, the Romulans are part of the Federation or Klingons post ally choice, but in terms of the game play, they are their own faction. Allied players can't join with Romulans to complete their stories (I'm pretty sure that they can't before the Romulan Feature series), so I feel that they are a true faction. But enough of my rant.

To go on topic, I still have all my characters. I have 4 federation characters and 1 Klingon, along with my Romulan character. Out of the 4 federation characters, only one has an implicit back story.

Here's a list of my older characters, their species and their careers:
    - Jack Linwood, Human, Tactical Officer
    - Faize Shifah Beleth, Alien, Engineer
    - Andrew Toren, Betazoid, Science Officer
    - P'ejah, Caitian, Engineer
    - Kurtok, Klingon, KDF, Tactical Officer

    Fed Tact - (Vulcan) Hightee
Fed Eng - (Custom Alien) Miraz
    Fed Sci - (Vulcan) Mir
    KDF Tact - (Orion) Gershon

    All before LOR

    After LOR

    Rom(FED) tact - (Romulan) High'tee

No cool story to share, sure they all have one, but the relevance would be lost on others because they are my characters' stories :D

Oh they all have a ship named Sputnik :)

Vice Admiral G'dessa T'Prell, a Rear Admiral pro tempore (actual earned fleet rank: Commodore) in Starfleet Military Intelligence, a Vulcan. Her bio says she spent her first several decades of life among non-Vulcans and has chosen not to embrace Kolinahr.

Lieutenant General Gessa G'ian the Succuba, a Department Chief (Department of Military Intelligence) in LGBT of the KDF 1st Fleet, an Orion. Her bio says she is Melani D'ian's cousin (and that "G'ian" is a dialectical variant of "D'ian") and the Matriarch of the Ninth Tribe of Orions.

Vice Admiral Gessatra ir'Virinat t'Prell, the Fleet Admiral of the Tal Diann (Romulan Military Intelligence), a Romulan.

G'dessa and Gessa were made well before LoR (the Vulcan was made almost a year ago; ignore the "Join Date" displayed in the fora, because it's WRONG). Gessatra is allied with the Orion Syndicate (sometimes still called "the Klingon Empire"). All three of my toons are Science officers.

The bios of G'dessa t'Prell and Gessa G'ian the Succuba refer to one another, but do not mention Gessatra ir'Virinat t'Prell, nor does hers mention either of them. The bios of G'dessa and Gessa claim that one or the other of them (and leave the question unanswered) is the other in disguise acting as a spy. All three toons currently have as their title one of the following: Operative, Agent, Spy. The similarity in name (to say nothing of the fact that all three toons look identical by design, apart from the greenness of Gessa and the normal Caucasian-ish skin tone of G'dessa and Gessatra, with Gessatra also having several different hairdos) between G'dessa T'Prell and Gessatra t'Prell ought to suggest something about a connection as well, but the head of Romulan Military Intelligence is rather obviously a spy and need not utter any explicit hints about what ops she may or may not be running.

At one time, my forum signature here read:
    Operative of Starfleet Military Intelligence?
Orion Spy, Tribal Matriarch, and cousin of Melani D'ian?
Fleet Admiral of the Tal'Diann for the New Romulan Republic?
Vulcan, Orion, Romulan -- whoever I really am, green is involved. Be content with that much truth.

So which one is real, and which two are disguises? The galaxy may never know. ;)

Edit: Gessatra also has one costume slot in which she has a rather obvious contemporary Romulan forehead detail (it's one of her disguises for infiltrating the Tal'Shiar), whereas all her other costume slots have the TOS Romulan forehead (TOS Romulans had no sort of protruding V-shaped ridges on ther foreheads). If she has altered her appearance for one infiltration, the possibility that she has altered her appearance for other operations is far from unlikely. But again, is she the actual identity, or is she a disguise? Does even she know?

I started a few romulans, then I sat there for a moment after I got them both to 50 and grinded a few rep missions that I was just being stupid....I mean its not like romulans have real science vessels anyway...

so I went back to my main with all the rep done (minus the new rep which is now done)
and a proper science vessel woo go go vesta with 130 aux unbuffed...

Been playing nothing but my 3 Roms lately (dealing with their rep grinds takes all my time), but I still consider my Fed Eng and KDF tac as my mains.

    Hi there,
    Hey!
Do you still have your old FED or KDF characters or have gone totally ROM?
Pre LoR I had two characters, a FED Engineer and a KDF Tactical. Once LoR was released, I created a Republic character, leveled him all the way to #50 too.

At the moment, I have six characters; two of each faction, one TAC and one ENG per faction. My FED characters are levels #50 & #45, my KDF characters are (I think) #47 & #36) and my two Republic characters are #17 & #19 (if I remember rightly).

As it stands, I can't get in to playing as the Republic. My focus is actually on my FED and KDF characters. My Republic characters are of less importance to me. I feared this would be the case (for me) when I first heard they were being implemented as a mini faction rather than independent. I had hoped this wouldn't bother me so much, but it has, and I don't play them much because of it.

Unlike the FED & KDF (of which I've made purchases for), I have never purchased anything (C-Store based) for the Republic.
    What alliance do they have
    n/a
Do they have a background story?
All of my characters (and bridge officers) have bios, though most of them are currently stored on a word document. I haven't got around to filling in all the details yet.
    What species are they?
FEDs: Andorian (ENG) & Saurian (TAC); KDF: Klingon (ENG) & Ferasan (TAC); Republic: Romulan (ENG) & Reman (TAC).
What career have you picked for them?
    See Above.
Do you have same character for all career/fraction?
No, I have Tactical & Engineers only at this moment in time.

I was waiting for the Romulan in STO since STO was announced, so I was really eager to make one. However, I kept my "old" characters, even if I seriously thought about deleting and remaking my romulans (custom alien) fed characters. But in the end, I like them the way they are.

    FED :
    Betazoid, tac (1rst char)
    Custom alien (hybrid Romulan/Human), engineer
    Custom alien (hybrid Romulan/Human), sci
My 2 rom hybrid are supposed to be fraternal twin, the engineer look more like a romulan, while the sci look more like a human.

    KDF :
Custom alien (hybrid Human/Klingon, used to be an alien, but the dialogues are so much Klingon oriented I grew tired of saying Qapla), engineer

    Romulan (fed) :
    Romulan, tac

All of them have a story, and their BOFFs to. It's all in my head however. And no, none of them knew Picard, Kirk, or is related to Riker.

I wish to make a sci and an engineer on the rom side, but honestly, it such a grind when they are 50 it's not funny. Especially when you've done it before. Several time.

    What species are they?
So far, I have two Caitians and a Ferasan. And they are all male. Their bridge crews are also male, except for the Borg Engineer Officer and one Human female (a Medic).
What career have you picked for them?
One Caitian is an Engineer, and the other is Tactical. The Ferasan is an Engineer. The Ferasan also has two Ferasan bridge officers, one Tactical, the other being an Engineer.
    Or have gone totally ROM?
I refuse to make a Rommy-side character unless we get Rommycats. Simple as that. Not that it would make any difference since the silly reputation system has already gotten me to the point where I am just not going to bother making another character.
Do they have a background story?
In one word, no. None of my characters have backstories, nor do my Ferasan bridge officers. I'm not a roleplayer. Don't get me wrong; I have nothing against people who want to roleplay. Just don't try to get me involved in your roleplay, and we will get along well enough.
I completed a 2-man CSE, ISE, and KASE, Optionals included. And I soloed Winter Invasion.

I have 1 fed main and now 1 Rom/KDF main. I used to have about 15 characters in all, but since all these reputations came out I never use the others.

Wont be long until I just delete them...
Fed: Eng Lib Borg (Five) Tac Andorian (Shen) Sci Alien/Klingon (Maelrock) KDF:Tac Romulan KDF (Sasha) Tac Klingon (K'dopis)
Founder, member and former leader to Pride Of The Federation Fleet.
What I feel after I hear about every decision made since Andre "Mobile Games Generalisimo" Emerson arrived...

    Before LOR:

Liz Archer - (Human) Science FED level 50.
Kiera - (Alien) Engineering KDF level 50.
Mornag - (Ferengi) Engineering FED level 15

I had a Romulan Science called Kree.. but then I deleted her after being her to 50.

Now I a trying to decide what to do next. Make two new ones, male and female.
My problem is knowing what class I should make. Bring up a character takes a lot of effort with the reputation system... highly expensive and takes time.

The LOR missions are great .. but then you have to decide FED or KDF:... and suddenly I am in trouble again.

I am thinking maybe I should do a "version" of my Main Science but then I would have to pick alien..but alien species does not have the new nice hair options for females. Or should I make my main as roumlan with the pointy ears and all?? -- Its really difficult I cant decide.

I want a character I can relate to.. care for. I have deleted characters before..

Neither am I on STO.. but I still want a background for them. I used to RP a lot on forum or via mail. So my characters are actually based on the characters I made then.

i'Ve been waiting for Romulans for a looong time, so yes, my main is now a Romulan Sci with a backstory and everything. but, it is also summer and the RL has the overhand now :)

my KDF and FED toons are now "sleepers", but i am planning on caring for my KDF PVP focused sci in a B'Rel later in fall and winter months..

Allied faction members can't accept the missions, but they can team up with Romulan players and help out. This is how many in my fleet got through the last Elachi mission when LOR first came out: When Captains in D'deridexes and Ha'fehs were backed up by Tor'khats and Fleet Defiants.

    But onto OP's question:

I could never dump my KDF or Fed mains - I've invested too much time, money, and energy into making them top characters. All those doffs (and doff slots) are a significant investment...I just wouldn't throw them away!

Post LoR I made one Fromulan to see the story missions bring my total up to 5. I've reverted back to my main, Vale, and just doff on everyone else. 4 feds, 1 kdf.

In-game, I don't RP much, but I think it's fun to have character backstories, and so my characters have them.

As of today, three of my five toons have had their stories told (to some extent) in the "Literary Challenge" threads in the Ten Forward forum, so there's that.

So far, I've done three Feds, one KDF, and one Romulan... I don't play the KDF one much (it just doesn't appeal to me, I'm afraid), but the other four are all level 50 end-game characters.

Tylha Shohl (Andorian engy) is the one with most of my stuff, and is still my main toon. T'laihhae (Rom engy) is the next most often used, with T'Pia (Vulcan sci) and Veronika "Ronnie" Grau (Lib-Borg tac) some way behind both of them. And if you ever check out those lit-challenge threads, you will probably learn far more than you ever wanted to know about Tylha, while T'laihhae has appeared several times, I put Ronnie's complicated origin story up just a few hours ago, and even T'Pia has poked her nose in, one time.

I like telling stories... and you have to have characters to tell stories about... so, those are mine.

I still mainly play Federales. I have one Klingon, that I do enjoy playing, I just don't play him as much as my Fed. I was going to add a Romulanski, but since they aren't actually a faction, just Feds and Klinks in funny costumes, I can't be bothered.

    What alliance do they have
    Um, Fed and Klink
Do they have a backround story?
    Yes, but I'm not telling.
    What species are they?
An aliemb species I made up all by myselfs. They're an unknown species with very unusual biology, although they are obviously the product of some Tal Shiar secret 'speriments. (See, I was working an intriguing Rom plotline beginning in open beta. Far more interesting than anything Cryptic came up with.)
What career have you picked for them?
One Fed Eng, one Fed Tac, one Klink Eng
Do you have same character for all career/fraction?
They can't be the same character, on account of they are different characters.
    Etc?
