Fleet HEC Questions and Suggestions

Hi all,

I've been cycling through escorts a lot lately and after a month or so with the Chimera Heavy Destroyer and a month or so with the Fleet Tactical Escort Retrofit, I've been testing the water with the Fleet Heavy Escort Carrier.

My problem is that I don't know if the pets are actually worth it... does the hangar actually add anything to this ship at all? Does having six Peregrine fighters make up for losing a Tactical Console slot after using the Fleet TER?

I also have two purple Hangar cooldown Duty Officers. Is that a good idea?

I'll post my gear and Bridge Officer layout below, and I'd really appreciate any input on what I'm doing wrong (the pets just feel utterly useless). I only do PvE and I just want the best pets and to know if they are actually effective.

DISCLAIMER: I don't have full rep yet (I'm at T3 Romulan, T3 Nukara, T4 Omega) and I only have the standard Peregrine Fighter hangar for the moment. I haven't bought a new hangar because I don't know what I'm doing with Carriers and I don't know what the best option is for DPS pets. I am using Phasers because I had the Chimera for a while and used them to take full advantage of the Phaser Lotus.

Fore Weapons
3x Advanced Fleet Phaser Dual Heavy Cannons Mk XII [Dmg]x2 [Acc]x2
Omega Plasma Torpedo Launcher

Aft Weapons
2x Advanced Fleet Phaser Turret Mk XII [Dmg]x2 [Acc]x2
Kinetic Cutting Beam

Deflector
Assimilated Deflector Array Mk XI

Impulse Engines
Assimilated Subtranswarp Engines Mk XI

Shields
Assimilated Regenerative Shield Array Mk XI

Warp Core
Overcharged Warp Core Mk XI [EPS] [W->S] [SSR]

Hangar
Peregrine Fighters

Engineering Consoles
3x Neutronium Alloy Mk XII

Science Consoles
2x Field Generator Mk XII
Assimilated Module

Tactical Consoles
4x Phaser Relay Mk XII

Bridge Officer Powers
Commander Tactical: Tactical Team I, Cannon: Rapid Fire I, Cannon: Scatter Volley II, Attack Pattern Omega III
Lieutenant Tactical: Tactical Team I, Cannon: Rapid Fire I
Ensign Tactical: Torpedo: High Yield I
Lt. Commander Engineering: Emergency Power to Shields I, Auxiliary to Structural I, Reverse Shield Polarity II
Lieutenant Science: Transfer Shield Strength I, Hazard Emitters II

Please help, I'm getting frustrated trying to choose an escort to permanently use and I'm getting close to just going back to doing awful DPS in an Odyssey! Thank you for reading.

    Looks pretty good.

I would suggest dropping a Rapid Fire and getting a Beta Pattern. Infact maybe drop Omega and get 2 Beta Patterns (lower cooldown) because they will increase the DPS of you, your fighters and the whole team. But you'll need to drop Transfer Shield for a Polarise Hull.

When available maybe replace a Neutronium with the Zero Point. Or any other crit Uni console.

Elite Scorpions are good, Advanced Danubes/Elite Yellowstones have good DPS, Chroniton Torpedoes, Tractor Beams and on the Elite Eject Warp Plasma.

Shield Repair Drones can be situational. (I keep a blue set).

I have the normal HEC so I got the Torpedo PDS console which is fun but highly situational, I also run Elite Peregrines and Phasers because I like the Federation look for this ship. I have Elite Yellowstones which are awesome like you wouldn't believe.

I've tried Delta's and their Blue version was pretty crappy and I hear the Elites don't improve enough to take over pretty much all other options.

If you don't like Escorts, maybe you should go back to a Cruiser. An Aux2Bat Beam boat do have good DPS.

Purple Flight Deck Officer sounds good, but which one is he? There's quite a few. Just farm the Catian Flight Training until you get the right guy. I use the one who lowers respawn.

Also what Captain are you? Eng is never going to out DPS a Tac or even a decent Sci player in an Escort.
I was once DKnight1000, apparently I had taken my own name so now I'm DKnight0001.
If I ask you a question it is not an insult but a genuine attempt to understand why.
When I insult you I won't be discreet about it, I will be precise and to the point stupid.

Do hangar pets do decent DPS? I keep thinking of them as the same as NPC fighters, which are more of a nuisance and are easily picked off.

I'm a Tactical captain, and the two hangar cooldown Duty Officers are F'ell and Kaell.

    Thanks for your input, dknight0001.

They can do Decent DPS especially the Scorpions Plasma Cannons & Torps leave shield penetrating burns. Not to mention 6 torpedoes, they are weaker than your Mk XII would be but they are essentially free. Sick of those nasty High Yield but destructible Torpedoes? Run you Fighters in Intercept mode. They'll still shoot your enemies but will take out other Fighters and incoming Torpedoes.

But you can't go past the control of the battlefield provided by Advanced Danubes or Elite Yellowstones.

Chronitons and Tractor Beams means your target loses def and can never quite escape. Omega or Polarise Hull out of one and the next gets you when your cooldown is ticking. And hey you can never have enough Warp Plasma out there.
